What I bought in Florida and Holiday Nightmare!

I’m going to kickstart this post on a bit of a negative today…sorry. My recent trip to Orlando, Florida wasn’t how I expected or wanted it to go. What was supposed to be a dream holiday turned into a complete and utter nightmare.

All was well on our travel date to Florida, no delays at the airport other than extremely long queues through security. Arrived in Orlando on time, if not earlier than anticipated. Checked into a pretty decent hotel and headed out to Friendly’s for food. Due to jetlag I woke up at around 6am the next day, only to look at my phone and find out DisneyWorld and Universal Studios were closing down for the duration of our trip due to the Coronavirus. At the time, I was completely and utterly heartbroken to say the least. The holiday of a lifetime turned upside before it had even begun. Fortunately we were able to enjoy 3 very hectic days in Disney, cramming most of the theme parks into 3 days was tiring but worth every moment.

As the trip went on, things kept getting worse…our flight home was cancelled just 4 days into our holiday. Virgin didn’t respond to any emails etc. because we were not due to travel within the next 72 hours, and hold times on the phone were 3 hours plus!! Bars, restuarants and other entertainment venues were closed down, so about a week in we pretty much had nothing to do.

Fortunately after over a week of uncertainity we were able to get in touch with Virgin and rescheudle our flight, allbeit 3 days earlier than our original travel home date. Unfortunately though, all flights to Manchester where cancelled, and the only option was to fly to London, via Atlanta. After around 12 hours of flight time, we had to endure a 3 and half hour car journey back home! The day we arrived back in the UK the offical UK lockdown begun, so we were extremely lucky to get home when we did!

Anyway, enough of my trip from hell! I did manage to pick up a couple of makeup products, although not near as much as I was hoping for!

Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil – £22.50

Brow Pencil

I’ve wanted to try some Benefit brow products for quite some time, so when I visited Sephora I just couldn’t help myself. I picked up the shade Black Brown and it’s the perfect colour for my brows. The pencil is simple to use and is super creamy, so if I make a mistake it blends out easily. It comes with a spooly at the other end making it really handy to travel with. So far I love it!

Benefit 24hr Brow Setter – £19.95

Brow Setter

I had to pick this product up, it’s been on my makeup wishlist for quite some time now. This is just a standard clear brow gel, BUT it packs a punch! It sets my brows in place all day without making them feel hard and crispy, like some other gels. I can really style the hairs into a thicker shape without adding any extra colour. Not only is the product itself great, but I adore the packaging too!

Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder – $7.99

Fit Me Powder

This product is really difficult to get hold of here in the UK, so when I spotted this on the shelf in Walgreens I had to have it! I’ve heard so many good things about this powder, but as of yet I’ve only used it once. Self-isolation has me going makeup free most days at the moment. Nevertheless I can’t wait to try this out properly and I’ll update this post when I’ve developed more of an opinon.

Maybelline Cheek Heat Cream Blusher – £8.99

Cheek Heat

I’ve never been one to reach for cream products (apart from foundation ofc), but I instantly gravitated towards this blush. I bought the shade Nude Burn the colour on the outer packaging called my name. When applying this, I added a small amount to the back of my hand and tapped it out with my other hand. I applied to the apples of my cheeks and this gave a very subtle flushed appearance to my face. It looked so pretty and natural.

Elf Putty Primer – £8.00

Another makeup item that has developed a pretty good reputation is this Elf primer. I bought this because I wanted to see what the hype was all about! It has been compared to the Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer (although I’ve never tried this). Since my trip, my skin seems to be going through a bit of dry phase, so the purchase of this primer was timely. I’m going to do an in depth review on this primer on the blog, so I won’t reveal my thoughts just yet…

L’Oreal Infallible More Than Concealer – £9.99

Infallible Concealer

This was a bit of an inpulse buy like the blush. The packaging looks familiar to me, so I’ve probably read or watched a review of this concealer at some point. I bought the shade 330 Ivory. When I tried this for the first time I was blown away by the amount of coverage this concealer provides. On bad skin days full coverage is key, however this concealer is so intense I feel as though I won’t reach for it as part of my daily routine. I need to try it out more to discover how best to apply it.

I hope you enjoyed my mini haul whilst I was in Orlando, but I hope you didn’t get pleasure in my recent travel disaster. Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Or have you been in a similar travel situation as me recently? Let’s talk in the comments!

Until Another Day x
