Estrid Razor Review- Is this Brand Really Worth the Hype?

My experience of the Estrid razor got off to a rocky start. Featuring razor burn, bumps and rashes. Read on to hear my full thoughts on the Estrid Razor and if my opinion was turned around…

Hello blogging world! It’s been a while since I last shared a post on my website. Firstly, I want to apologise for the radio silence. I don’t have an excuse for where I’ve been over the last couple of months, other than I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired, or motivated to post. Life hasn’t been hectic or anything, but I am back to working in the office a couple of days per week, so the last thing I wanted to do was write blog posts of an evening. I hope I can get back into the swing of things, but don’t plan on setting myself any major blogging goals, I don’t want to overwhelm my little brain just yet. Anyway, I’m rambling a bit now, so I’m going to get on with why you are actually here. To read my opinion on Hey Estrid.

Disclosure – this isn’t an AD, I purchased the razor with my own money. I thought I’d share this as I know quite a few bloggers have worked with Estrid previously, and I don’t want people to think I’m not disclosing any gifted/paid collaborations.

Who are Estrid?

If you have lived under a rock for the last couple of years, you may not have heard of Estrid. Estrid is a razor subscription for those who want to remove their body hair. The razors are designed with 5 sharp blades, to give you the smoothest/closest shave possible. Estrid are a vegan and cruelty free brand, they don’t use any animal by products and test on humans, not animals.

The Estrid subscription service is tailored to your shaving needs. If you shave every day, a few times per week, or once a week, Estrid has a plan that will suit you. I personally shave a couple of times per week, so my replacement blades are sent out every 2 months.

When you sign up to Estrid for the first time, you can choose the colour of the razor you would like. There are so many different colours to select, including: Matcha (green), Bloom (light pink), Cloud (grey), Space (lialic/blue), Peach, Lemonade (yellow). I opted for Lemonade.

Estrid Razor Review

I had high hopes for the Estrid razor, having seen so many bloggers, influencers and YouTubers talking about how this razor was going to change my life. I debated with myself for so long, before finally deciding to subscribe. The razor I was using at the time just wasn’t doing it for me, so a shaving switch up was required.

Firstly, the order process online was very easy and user friendly. The steps were short and simple, no complicated, long winded questionaires to complete, just a couple of quickfire questions to determine the right plan for me. My starter kit arrived within a few days of ordering and delivery is free.

The razor itself is weighty and of high quality. I could definitely tell the difference between the Estrid razor component, compared with the my usual razor. The Estrid starter kit comes with a handy holder that sticks to the wall, preventing me from forgetting to take it into the shower with me.

The first time I used the Estrid Razor, I made sure to lather my legs up with plenty of shower gel before proceeding with shaving. I must admit, I was impressed by how smooth the blades glided along my skin, but within a few moments I noticed that I’d developed a small cut on my leg. This rarely happened with my old razor, so I was quite surprised when this occured.

After my shower, I always put on some form of body lotion or moisturiser. After applying, my legs started to sting like crazy and after around 20-30 minutes I noticed a shaving rash and small bumps to my legs. Obviously I was really disappointed about this, but didn’t want to make a negative judgement on the Estrid razor too soon.

My initial experience of the Estrid razor certainly wasn’t what I expected it to be. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to continue using it. I shaved under my arms with the razor, again with plenty of soap. In the middle of the night I was woken up by a really panful itching armpit. When I looked at this in the mirror, I noticed a similar shaving rash to what appeared on my legs. Considering how much hype the brand and products were receiving across social media, I was quite shocked that I was experiencing this.

The next few times I was shaving, I made sure to exfoliate the areas beforehand and added even more body wash to assist the razor glide across my skin. I did notice a difference this time, no cuts, no stinging, just smooth shaved legs. I’ve clearly been doing it wrong the entire time! I don’t want to sound as though I’m exaggerating, but my legs genuinely feel like a dolphins back after shaving, so shiny, so smooth. I’m starting to understand the hype now. For my under arms, I followed the same preparation routine as I had done for my legs. However, I also used a lighter hand when shaving, used less shaving strokes and was extra gentle when tackling this area. Finally, I have cracked it! No more razor burn on my arm pits anymore.

At first I was so disappointed, but now I am well and truly obsessed. I feel like there’s a technique to shaving with this razor, more preparation is required then other razors I’ve used, but the effort truly is worth it for the end result.

Did you experience any of the same issues with the Estrid razor like I did? What are your true and honest thoughts on the Estrid Razor?

May 2021 Glossybox Review

Wanting to try Glossybox, but don’t know if it’s worth it? I’ll be sharing an honest review of Glossybox’s Let The Sun Shine May box!

May is finally here! I was hoping to be writing the start of this post on a gorgeous sunny May day, but alas it’s 20mph winds and rain *sigh*. Another month brings with it another GLOSSYBOX. If you read my April GLOSSYBOX review, you’ll know I was bitterly disappointed with it’s contents. With that being said, I was very much looking forward to May’s box, because it brings with it a unique box design. Without further ado, let’s get reviewing!

Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun Gel

Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun Gel

Whenever the sun shows her face I somehow always get sunburnt…yes, even when I wear suncream! I have extremely fair skin that the sun cannot seem to stay away from. After Sun has always been a must-have product, especially when I’m travelling. Last July, I visited Cornwall and had such painful sunburn on my legs, I looked like a Squashie sweet!! Anyway, I haven’t been able to try out the Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun just yet, the weather is pretty dull at the moment, but as soon as the sun makes an apperance I will definitely be trying this out.

Ciate London Gold Definer Liner

Ciate London Gold Definer Liner

Eyeliner isn’t something I wear all that often, especially not shimmer liners. The Gold Definer Liner by Ciate London is gorgeous. The first time I used this, I applied to the inner corner of my eyes to add a pop of bright shimmer. I found the liner to be very creamy, and the colour pay off to be very strong. I didn’t need to apply much for this to show up on my eyes. I’m going to be playing around with this a lot, to try it out in different ways. Dark liners tend to smudge onto my lower lash line, I really want to find out if Ciate London have a dark eyeliner in a similar formula to see how this fairs on my eyes!

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Eye Masks

Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Masks

Most mornings I wake up with puffy, tired eyes, so I gave the Dragons Blood Eyes Masks by Rodial Beauty a try during my morning skincare routine. After washing my face, I applied the patches to my dark circles. I found them quite fiddly to apply, the masks have two cloth protective covers on each side that I had to remove before applying. The packaging recommends to leave on for 20-30 minutes. When I removed the patches, my eyes looked less puffy and brightened. I was massively impressed by the difference, my under eyes also felt hydrated and nourished. I would definitely consider picking these up again in the future.

Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel

Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel

I am OBSESSED with the scent of the Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel, it smells exactly like a Lemon Drizzle Cake! I found that I needed to apply quite a lot of the shower gel to my body puff for it to lather up nicely. However, the shower gel itself is very enjoyable to use. My body felt clean and hydrated, some scented shower gels can dry out the skin, but this one didn’t. Although I loved it, I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to repurchase because it’s a little more expensive to what I usually buy, it retails for £5.70.

Lottie London Power Foil

Lottie London Power Foil

I’m not going to lie, pigments scare me. I’m so paranoid that I’m going to have masses of glittery fall-out across my entire face. The Power Foil from Lottie London is simply stunning, the shade Golden Hour is perfect for every day wear, but can definitely be used to glam up any eye makeup look. I made sure to do my eyes first, to avoid the dreaded glitter face, but much to my surprise, there wasn’t much fall-out at all. I used a small flat brush to apply, but for a more intense shimmer and colour pay off, I’d use my finger. I can see myself using this product a lot, I feel that it can be worn at any point throughout the year. I’m super impressed by Lottie London with this eye shimmer, I’d love to see if they do other shades!

May Glossybox leaflet

May’s GLOSSYBOX was a lot more impressive then lasts months box. I think my favourite product has to be Lottie London Power Foil, I loved how this looked on my eyes. Did you receive May’s GLOSSYBOX, what were your thoughts on the box? If you would like to sign up to GLOSSYBOX I have a referral friend link, were I receive £5 credit if someone joins using my link.

Glossybox March 2021 Review

The March 2021 Glossybox features beauty products from NYX, Nails Inc, Beautaniq Beauty. Check out my Glossybox review for March’s Pretty Pleasures box.

Another month means another Glossybox UK arrival, this is my third Glossybox since signing up and it’s a good one! The March 2021 Glossybox theme was Pretty Pleasures, featuring brands such as NYX, Nails Inc and Beautaniq Beauty. Every product I received was also full sized, with the total value of the contents totalling £77.50, you’re getting a bargain.

Figs and Rouge Satin Soft Blurring Primer

Figs and Rouge Satin Soft Blurring Primer

I often struggle to find a face primer that works for my oily skin, I have tried many different primers over the years, some great and some not so great. The Figs and Rouge Primer claims to blur and minimise shine, it also has anti-blemish properties, meaning breakouts are reduced.

When I tried the primer for the first time, I was surprised by its runny consistency. Primers which are designed for blurring and shine control, typically have a silicone-like, or thick texture, but this one was quite the opposite. I applied the primer across my nose, forehead and chin (my oily areas) and used my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, for powder I used the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder. When trying a new primer, I like to use base makeup products that I know and love. This way I will know it’s the primer causing any problems.

However, I didn’t have any issue with this primer, its claims were completely accurate. My makeup lasted really well, I didn’t need to do any powder top-ups throughout the day, which is a massive bonus for an oily skin gal like myself. The Figs and Rouge primer is definitely a luxury product, retailing at £38, I think it’s the most expensive primer I have ever tried. That being said, I did love it and it is cruelty free, but I’m not sure I could justify paying just shy of £40 for a primer.

Nails Inc Palace Gardens Nail Polish

Nails Inc Palace Gardens Nail Polish

With the nail salons being closed, I have been painting my nails every week as part of my self-care routine. I was pleased to find a gorgeous pastel blue polish by Nails Inc in my Glossybox this month. Nails Inc say that this is a “super glossy, long lasting, intense colour” nail polish. I agree with most of this, apart from the long-lasting part. Like most standard nail polishes, it did chip after a day or two, even with the OPI Topcoat. The colour payoff is fantastic though. Usually with pale colours it takes a good 3, sometimes 4, coats of polish for the nail to be completely covered, but with Palace Gardens, I only need 2 coats!

Overall, this is a great staple nail polish to have in your collection, and it’s one I’m definitely going to be reaching for throughout spring and summer.

Beautaniq Beauty Nourishing Mascara

Beautaniq Beauty Nourishing Mascara

Intensely volumising, this Nourishing Mascara thickens, lengthens and adds curl for bigger, fuller looking lashes.

When I read this description in the Glossybox leaflet I was so excited to try out this mascara. The packaging is quite unusual for a mascara, it reminds me of a lip balm or liquid blush. The only negative about the Nourishing Mascara is how difficult it can be to remove and reinsert the wand. However, the mascara itself is a dream come true. Despite being volumising, it is by no means a clumpy mascara. It adds tons of volume and length, creating the most stunning wispy lashes. I could definitely see myself purchasing this again when I’m next in need of new mascara.

So Eco Complexion Sponge

So Eco Complexion Sponge

I have always used a brush to apply my foundation, but I do occasionally opt for a sponge. The Complexion Sponge by So Eco was a little disappointing for me I’m afraid. I wet the sponge, like I normally would, however the sponge seemed to lose its shape and became quite bumpy. I also struggled to get my foundation to look even, it took me quite a while to blend in the foundation. The finish of my makeup did look fresh and natural but it took a lot longer than normal to achieve my go-to base. I will of course continue to play around with the sponge and will update this post if my opinion changes.

NYX Lip Lingerie

NYX Lip Lingerie Lipstick

I am going to keep this very brief, as there isn’t anything to say. I haven’t tried this Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick by NYX because the shade I received in my Glossybox is a colour that I know I would never wear. I received the shade 14 Lipli, which is an almost dark brown. I don’t like dark colours on my skin tone, so rather than trying it once and never wearing again, I will keep to one side and either gift to a friend or include in a giveaway at some point. I love NYX and was really hoping for a product of theirs that I would use, but unfortunately this shade just wasn’t for me.

I really liked this month’s Glossybox, 3 out of the 5 products are amazing and definitely things I would use time and time again. As for the sponge, I will keep using it to see if I can get it it to work better for me. Did you receive your March Glossybox? Have you tried any of these products before?

Triyit New Year New Me Review

I am so happy to share that I was chosen for my third Triyit box. I can’t wait to dive in and show you what I received.

I am so happy to share that I was chosen for my third Triyit box. If you are not already aware, Triyit are a review company allowing brands to obtain consumer feedback on their products, at completely no cost to the reviewer. If selected for a campaign, you will be sent a short survey to complete, to ensure you are the correct fit, then box of goodies will arrive a few days later. Once you have tried all of the products, you will be sent another survey to give feedback on all of the products.

With that being said, I’m going to share with you everything I received in the Triyit “New Year, New Me” campaign, and my thoughts on each product.

Verival Berry Granola

I love cereal, especially granola, so I was over the moon to discover the Verival Berry Granola in my Triyit box. This delicious granola is 100% organic, high in fibre and free of palm oil. I served up my granola with milk, but it would be amazing with yoghurt too. I find that some granola’s can be very hard to chew and sometimes too crunchy, but the Verival Granola was just the right texture. I was so impressed by the taste and how filling it was, I’ll definitely be keeping a look out for this whilst food shopping.

Marston’s Resolution Beer

Whilst I am not a lover of beer, my boyfriend certainly is. The Resolution Beer from Marston’s Brewery has a 4.7% ABV and it’s only 88 calories per bottle. I asked my boyfriend sum up his thoughts on this beer and he was really impressed. He described it as light, crisp and refreshing, it was definitely a thumbs up from him. I even had a sip and for someone who doesn’t like beer, I actually thought it was quite nice!

Cheeky Panda Pocket Tissues

I always like to have a packet of tissues to hand, you never know when you might need them. The Cheeky Panda Pocket Tissues are completly plastic free and are made from 100% bamboo, how fab is that! Most pocket tissues have an outer packet made of plastic, but not the Cheeky Panda, the tissues are housed in a really cute sustainable box. The tissues themselves are also hypoallergenic, fragrance free and are super soft too!

Juice Burst Apple Juice

Now this is a product that I have purchased in the past, so I was very happy to receive a bottle of the Juice Burst Apple Juice in my Triyit box. Apple Juice is my go to fruit juice, I much prefer it to Orange. Juice Burst pride themselves in being recyclable, vegan and containing no added sugar. The drink is also super refreshing and vert tasty, it’s a yes from me!

ZENB Veggie Bites

I was a tad disappointed to find the ZENB Veggite Bites in my box. I received them in my last Triyit campaign and I didn’t like them at all. With that being said, it was a different flavour this time around they were Beetroot, Orange and Cacao Nib. Much to my disappoint, I didn’t enjoy these either. They are definitely an acquired taste that’s for sure. The Veggie Bites are organic, plant based, gluten free and contain no artificial flavours or preservatives.

Aqua Libra Raspberry and Apple Sparkling Water

Flavoured water is so tasty, so I couldn’t wait to take a sip of the Raspberry and Apple sparkling water from Aqua Libra. This drink contains no sugar, no sweeteners, no calories and no artificials, that’s a lot of no’s! Unfortunately, it’s also a no from me too. I’m not a fan of sparkling water and I couldn’t really taste the Raspberry and Apple, it was too subtle for my liking.

Bugs Bakes Dog Food

Triyit always like to include our beloved pets in their campaigns, so they sent over some dry dog food from Bugs Bakes. My dog Oscar is a fussy little bugger when it comes to dry dog food, so he wasn’t too keen at first. We mixed the pellets in with some wet food and he was more than happy to gobble it down. Bugs Bakes food contain eco-friendly fruit and veg and have 100% plastic free packaging.

I really liked the majority of the products featured in the New Year, New Me campaign, with my favourite being the Verival Berry Granola. Have you tried anything mentioned here, or would you like to try them?

GlossyBox January 2021 Review

At the start of January I decided to cancel my gym membership (I know, controversial) and instead put the money towards a GlossyBox subscription.

Contains referral links

At the start of January I decided to cancel my gym membership (I know, controversial) and instead put the money towards a GlossyBox subscription. GlossyBox have been on my radar for quite sometime and I finally decided to see what all of the fuss was about.

GlossyBox have two subscription types, a rolling monthly subscription or a 12 month subscription. I chose the monthly service, purely because I hate being tied down to a recurring payment, and if I’m not fussed on the products I can easily cancel at any time.

January’s GlossyBox focussed mainly on skincare products. I was super happy about this because one of my goals for 2021 is to do a full skincare routine every morning and evening.

What’s inside the January 2021 GlossyBox?

Daily Concepts Daily Reusable Rounds

Daily Concepts Reusable Rounds

When I spotted a 2 pack of reusable cotton rounds by the brand Daily Concepts I was so happy. I have wanted to pick up something similar for quite a while now. Cotton rounds can be used in a variety of ways, either by removing makeup or adding toner to the skin, I mainly use them for the latter. Reusable cotton rounds are a great way of becoming more sustainable, I featured a susitanable gifting section in my Christmas Gift Guide, which contained some reusable cotton rounds.

Ecooking Moisturising Serum

Ecooking Moisturizing Serum

As you all know, I am obsessed with skincare, especially oils and serums lately. This hydrating serum from ecooking is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and locking in the skins natural moisture. I started using the serum as soon as it arrived and I was instantly impressed. The description of the Ecooking serum is spot on, it is very hydrating and moisturising, but doesn’t make the skin greasy. I have sensitive skin and the serum didn’t cause any inflammation which was an added bonus. I’ve started to include this serum into my regular skincare routine.

Saint Luxe Beauty Brow Gel

Saint Luxe Brow Gel

Saint Luxe Beauty is a female, black owned, luxury beauty brand, founded by the beautiful Nicole in the East Coast. All of Saint Luxe’s products are cruelty free! The Saint Luxe Beauty Brow Gel has a very small wand, which is great for coating the brow hairs without adding too much product. It set my brows in place nicely, but I did notice that it wasn’t as “cementing” as my usual brow gel. The Saint Luxe Brow Gel retails for £16, which is fairly pricey for the size.

Your Sanitiser Hand Sanitising Gel

Your Sanitiser Hand Sanitiser Gel

Let’s face it, hand sanitising gel has become the new accessory, but to be honest, it’s always been a handbag essential of mine. It was only fitting that GlossyBox included the Your Sanitiser hand gel in this months box, new year, same germs… Anyway, I don’t have anything bad to say about this hand sanitiser, it actually has quite a nice scent compared to others I’ve tried. This will be going straight in my purse the next time I’m out and about.

Beauty Pro Avocado Infused Sheet Mask

Beauty Pro Avocado Sheet Mask

Who doesn’t love a good sheet mask? They’re so hydrating and make the skin feel so soft and luscious, although, they do make you look a little questionable. With that being said, the Beauty Pro Avocado Infused Sheet Mask uses plant based skin loving ingredients to instantly hydrate and smooth your complexion. I tried this out a few days ago when I was having a little self-care and pamper morning and my skin looked plump and felt extremely soft afterwards. I could definitely see myself picking up more Beauty Pro sheet masks in the future.

Mudmasky Serum Infused Eye Mask

Mudmasky Serum-Infused Eye Mask

A mask specifically designed for the eyes? That was the first thought I had when I picked this Mudmasky product out of my January Glossybox. I’d heard and even tried sheet masks for the eyes, but not a liquid mask. This serum infused eye mask is specifically designed for the delecate skin around the eye area, supposidly helping to reduce dark circles, puffy eyes, fine wrinkles, dry skin and swelling. This mask has a slighly unusual scent, so if you have a particularly sensitive nose, then this may not be for you. I’ve tried the mask out a couple of times and I do like it, however I haven’t used it for long enough to see the benefits it claims to have.

January 2021 Glossybox

Overall, I was super impressed with my first ever Glossybox, there’s something about receiving a box filled with surpise goodies that gets me really hyped up. Have you tried any of the beauty products in the January 2021 Glossybox?

Triyit “Find a Fave” Campaign Review

My thoughts and opinions on the Triyit Find a Fave Campaign

*Contains gifted items*

Triyit are an at home product review company, allowing members of the public to test out various products, at absolutely no cost! Yes, you did read that correctly, it is totally FREE! Simply sign up on their website and you could be chosen to receive a box of goodies to test and review. Since signing up this year, I have received two boxes filled with amazing products, so it is definitely worth signing up to. Not only are you sent stuff for FREE, but you are also in with the chance of winning some great prizes for simply snapping a photograph and uploading to social media.

What is in the “Find A Fave” Campaign?

The “Find a Fave” campaign features 7 products, 5 of which can be used by us humans. You may be wondering what I am talking about, but two of the products are for my dog! I think it is adorable that Triyit include items for pets in the boxes occasionally too. When registering for Triyit you are required to complete a questionaire all about you and your lifestyle, this way Triyit can send you bespoke products. If selected for a campaign, you will also receive a short survey to ensure the campaign is the correct fit for you. This is why they knew to send me treats for my dog. With that being said, this is what I was sent and my thoughts on each of the products.

Pedigree DENTASTIX Daily Dental Chews

Pedigree DENTASTIX
Pedigree Dentastix

My Labradoodle has a Pedigree DENTASTIX every evening to help keep his teeth and gums healthy. They are scientifically proven to help reduce tartar build-up, recommended by vets, and low in fat with no added sugar, so overall they are a great snack for dogs. Oscar is an easily pleased dog when it comes to food, but I can tell he loves them. His face lights up and he becomes so excited when he spots the packet being opened. Whenever Oscar has a check-up at the vets they always comment on how healthy his teeth are, so I would really recommend them if you have a dog.

Crunchy Nut Granola Fusion

Crunchy Nut Granola Fusion

When I opened the box I was instantly drawn to this product because Crunchy Nut is one of my favourite cereals, especially their granolas. I was surprised to discover that rather than milk, water is required instead. Before trying this out, I noticed a couple of downsides, the packaging is a one use plastic, it can of course be recycled. The Crunchy Nut Granola Fusion was by far the star of the show in the Find a Fave Triyit Campaign. It was a really delicious snack and the tastiest product in the box. I could definitely see myself picking this up again in the future, if I am ever in need of an on the go snack!

SO.BEER

I love the play on words for this one, it is a non-alcoholic light lager, So Beer… sober… get it? It contains a bunch of natural vitamins and minerals to help boost the immune system, without any of the negative effects of alcohol. In all honesty, I wasn’t a fan, I don’t like beer at all, and although non-alcoholic, it still tasted like beer. If you are beer drinker then I do think you would like it, but for someone like me then it is probably not for you. I forgot to take a picture of the So Beer can before I drank it!!

EatEnjoy Balance

EatEnjoy Balance Digestive Enzyme Blend
EatEnjoy Balance Digestive Enzyme Blend

These tablets are a digestie enzyme blend designed to help optimise digestive health. They claim to reduce the feelings of discomfort from food sensitivities and support regularity in the digestive system with just one capsule. I am yet to try this product, and to be honest, I am not sure I will. I do not suffer with digestive problems, therefore don’t really want to be taking tablets unnecessarily. EatEnjoy Balance are available to purchase from Holland and Barrett.

Harringtons Wet Dog Food

Harringtons Turkey with Potato & Vegetables Dog Food

Another gift for my gorgeous doggo, and another brand that we regularly feature in his diet. Oscar eats Harringtons Dry Dog food, he has quite a sensitive stomach and their natural ingredients always do the trick. The Harringtons wet food is always a much loved treat for Oscar, and he definitely loved this flavour, he woofed it down (sorry)…! Harringtons dog food is extremely nutritional and is filled with vitamins and minerals. It is also grain free so is guranteed to be gentle on your dogs stomach.

ZENB Sweet Potato, Mango, and Cinnamon Bites

ZENB Sweet Potato, Mango and Cinnamon Bites
ZENB Sweet Potato, Mango and Cinnamon Bites

I have never heard of ZENB before, but when I spotted that this little packet contained Mango, I was beyond thrilled. These veggie bites are packed with fibre, are plant-based and gluten free, organic and do not contain any artificial flavours or preservatives. There are 163 calories per 45g bag, which is quite a lot considering the portion size (but whose counting ey). Unfortunately I absolutely hated these little treats, they did not taste nice at all, it’s how I imagine dried dog food to taste. I expected them to be quite sweet considering the ingredients, but it was the complete opposite. They were extremely dry, I couldn’t stomach myself to eat one whole piece. This was a definite no from me.

Mude Immunobust Water

Mude Immunobust Drink
Mude Immunobust Drink

Mude are experts in creating immune strenghtening fizzy waters that are packed with vitamins, plants and of course water. Mude have a variety of drinks available with proven health benefits (proven in more than 50 scientific studies, based on regular consumption oftheir unique blend of ingredients). Their drinks are low in calories, low in sugar, vegan and even carbon neutral. My Triyit box contained one of their Immunobust Waters, with hints of Mango and Grapefruit. Unfortunately, this was another product that I wasn’t a massive fan of, it just didn’t have a nice taste, it was pretty much sparkling water. I could only taste the hint of Mango and Grapefruit in my initial sip, and then after that nothing all. Although this product has plenty of health benefits, I just couldn’t get past the taste, so I won’t be purchasing in the future.

Sadly this box just didn’t cut it for me I’m afraid, the only product I was able to fully enjoy was the Crunchy Nut Granola Fusion. The rest of the ‘human’ products where a massive no from me. I was, however over the moon to receive some little goodies for my dog, and I know he was absolutely thrilled about this too. This is my second box from Triyit and the first was so much better, but at the time I didn’t write a blog post on it. I will not let my experience of the Find a Fave campaign put me off taking part in future campaigns, it is really fun getting to try out products that I wouldn’t normally purchase.

Where you involved in the Find a Fave campaign? What did you think of these products?

GLAMGLOW Clear Skin Goals Set Review

If you suffer with oily/acne prone skin, then GLAMGLOW’s products are the perfect way to help your skin. Check out my review of the Supermud Set.

GLAMGLOW seemed to appear within the beauty community only in the past few years, with every influencer giving the brand a mention in some form or another. I’d always wanted to try it out but their products are on the pricier side, I couldn’t bare to spend £44 on a face mask! A couple of years ago I was subscribed to Birchbox, and in one of those boxes I received a sample size of the GLAMGLOW Supermud face mask. I remember falling in love with the mask, but I never got around to repurchasing (it’s not cheap). One day, maybe a month before Christmas, I was looking at Christmas gifts in Boots when I spotted this Clear Skin Goals Set My boyfriend picked up on the “subtle” hints I was dropping and I received it a month later as one of my Christmas presents!! It’s taken me a while to post this review, as I wanted to really test out each of the products to develop a full opinion on them, before giving my final verdits.

This set includes 4 different products and retails for £44 (the price of the mask alone!!). Below I have listed the products that are in this set, please note, not all products are full size.

  1. SUPERMUD Activated Charcoal Clearing Treatment
  2. SUPERTONER Exfoliating Acid Solution Toner
  3. GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturiser in Nude Glow
  4. Oxygenating Deep Clean Cleanse Mask

SUPERMUD Activated Charcoal Clearing Treatment

GlamGlow SuperMud Cleansing Treatment Mask. Face mask to help get clear skin.

This is the mask I was referring to at the start of this post, so I was super happy to receive this for Christmas. To apply I use one of the old Real Techniques Foundation Brushes (the flat one) and put the mask all over my face. Sometimes I like to use this as a spot treatment, so I place a small amount over each breakout rather than on my entire face. I leave it on for around 15-20 minutes, until the mask has hardened and I can longer move my face! To remove a take a damp face cloth and wipe away the mask. My skin feels really soft afterwards and appears brighter and cleaner, the redness of any blemishes are also reduced which is wonderful. This mask features in one of my other blog posts, 7 of The Best Face Masks for Oily Skin.

I’ve heard rumours in the beauty community that Aldi has a face mask very similar to this one but at a fraction of the price! Maybe I’ll check this out at some point.

SUPERTONER Exfoliating Acid Solution Toner

GlamGlow Superserium 6 Acid Refining Treatment perfect for oily spot prone skin.

This toner contains 6 acids which help to exfoliate and smooth skin. It has a very thin consistency and is lilac in colour. I don’t like to use this every day because it contains so many acids, it’s something that I will include in my skincare routine just a couple of times a week. I’ve used this quite a bit already and so far it’s worked nicely on my combination skin. My skin feels and looks smoother the morning after I’ve applied it which I really like. I also seem to have a lovely healthy glow to my skin, meaning I feel confident going makeup free.

GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturiser in Nude Glow

GlamGlow Glowstarter Moisturiser in Nude Glow perfect for oily/acne prone skin.

As someone with oily skin I don’t typically use illuminating/hydrating moisturisers underneath my makeup. I gave this a go and I must admit I was impressed. The moisturiser itself has a pearlescent finish but is by no means shimmery. Despite having oily skin, this didn’t make my makeup wear any differently other than giving me a nice healthy glow. My makeup lasted just as long as it would without this product without the need for powder touch ups. This is definitely something I’m going to be reaching for when I’m wearing makeup in the future.

Oxygenating Deep Clean Cleanse Bubble Mask

GlamGlow Bubblesheet Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask

This was such a fun sheet mask to use! After about a minute or so of the mask sitting on my skin, small bubbles began to appear on the surface. If you’re in a rush but don’t want to skip out on using a face mask, this one would be perfect as it only takes 3 minutes to cleanse the skin. After use, my skin felt smooth and didn’t feel dry or tight. Personally, I don’t think I would repurchase the mask, purely because I am tight with my money, but £8 for one sheet mask is a bit steep in my eyes.

Overall, this set is great value for money. You’re getting 4 products for the price of a full sized version of the face mask, so it’s a bargain if you ask me! It would be a great gift for that skincare lover in your life, or just a little luxury treat for yourself. I’d really recommend this set to anyone who suffers from breakouts or has oily skin, even the moisturiser didn’t make my skin produce anymore oils! Have you tried this set, or any of the individual products? Let me know what you think!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has been on the beauty community’s radar for years now, but I have only recently tried it out for myself. After reading some reviews, I decided to give it a go on my oily/combination skin to see if it was actually worth the hype it was getting.

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has been on the beauty community’s radar for years now, but I have only recently tried it out for myself. After reading some reviews, I decided to give it a go on my oily/combination skin to see if it was actually worth the hype it was getting.

To begin this review, I spotted a major flaw as soon as I opened the bottle…there is no pump! For a £30+ foundation, you’d assume there would be a pump, but not with this one, you’re expected to fork out an additonal £5.50 for the pleasure, this is just daylight robbery! With that being said, I just don’t think it is worth the extra expense, so I will make do without, although it makes it a little difficult to control the amount of product you need.

The foundation itself has a liquidy consistancy, but is neither thin nor thick, it’s the perfect texture. Most brands are lacking in their shade range department, but Estee Lauder has everyone covered. With over 60 shades, I’d expect that the majority of skin tones would be able to find their match. I have quite a fair complexion, so my perfect shade is 1N2.

After experimenting with the application of the foundation, I personally find using a damp sponge works the best. It disperses the product evenly and prevents the foundation from appearing cakey on drier parts of the skin. The Double Wear Foundation is easily buildable, from a light layer to full coverage and it hides a multitude of sins, including discolouration and blemishes. It contains SPF 10, so I would recommend adding a seperate SPF before applying this foundation.

I have oily/combination skin, so finding a foundation which not only prevents my skins natural oils from peaking through, but also doesn’t cling to dry patches of skin can be rather difficult. However, this foundation works wonders on my skin. Paired with a loose powder, I’ve recently been using the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, my skin looks flawless for hours at a time without needing to do regular powder top ups. It has a matte finish but doesn’t look cakey if applied with a damp sponge, my recommendation is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

I am completely honest in all of my reviews and if I had any concerns with a product I would voice them, I don’t want you to go wasting your hard earned cash on something useless. However, this foundation is pretty much perfect, the only negative being that it doesn’t come with a pump. The product itself is perfect for my oily skin, it is full coverage and lasts all day. It claims to have 24hr wear, but this is something I won’t be testing out for obvious reasons!

What is your favourite foundation? Have you tried the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and does it work well for you? Let me know!

Perfume Dupe for Coco Chanel Mademoiselle

I am completely obsessed with perfume, I think it reflects personality and certain scents can be really mood uplifting. I was lucky enough to be gifted a bottle of perfume from The Scentuary (@thescentuary.fmworld_over on Instagram).

I was given the opportunity to pick from a bunch of different perfumes, so naturally I chose one of my favourites (Coco Chanel Mademoiselle). I was then sent a 50ml bottle of Pure FM18 to try and test. This perfume retails for £14.99, as opposed to its expensive counterpart of £79!

To start with the packaging is very sleek and minimal, it kind of gives off Jo Malone vibes. I love how the bottle looks on my dressing table next to my other perfumes. When I sprayed this for the first time I was completely overwhelmed with how similar the fragrance was to Mademoiselle, I genuinely couldn’t tell the difference. It’s to be expected that the scent doesn’t last as long as Chanel, but for the price I really can’t complain. I smell so expensive without breaking the bank! I’m thinking about trying out some of their different fragrances in the future once I’ve used finished a couple of my other perfumes. They have dupes for Paco Robanne’s Lady Million, Miss Dior, Thierry Mugler Alien, plus many more, so there’s something for absolutely everyone.

I’d really recommend checking @thescentuary.fmworld_ out, they not only sell perfumes, but they also sell aftershaves. I even have a discount code for my lovely readers for 10% off all of their products ‘COCO10’ (code is not affiliate).

Revolution Velvet Rose Palette VS ABH Soft Glam Palette

This review is going to be slightly different than normal. I’m going to put the two palettes against each other and compare the differences to see which one comes out on top. Which palette do you think will win? Read on to find out…

I love Makeup Revolution, so when I was placing a Superdrug order I couldn’t help but add one of their palettes. I was instantly drawn to the Velvet Rose Palette, it screamed my name! This palette features an array of warm shades, with some dusty pink shadows too. The majority of the eyeshadows are matte, but it does contain five shimmer/glitter shadows as well. When I first spotted this online, straight away I thought that it looked very similar to the Anastasia Soft Glam Palette.  The Anastasia Palette retails for £46, yet the Makeup Revolution Palette only £4, that’s a whopping 168% difference!! Could this be the cheapest dupe yet?

This review is going to be slightly different than normal. I’m going to put the two palettes against each other and compare the differences to see which one comes out on top. Which palette do you think will win?

Comparisons

At first glance, both palettes look almost identical, with the exception of the packaging. The Anastasia Palette looks a lot more luxurious, which you’d expect from that price tag! It is encased in an almost velvet like material and has a decent sized mirror, it even comes with its own duel ended brush! The Revolution palette does look cheap (I mean I can’t really complain, it was £4 for crying out loud). Personally, it’s a slight letdown that this palette doesn’t have a mirror, it would be more user friendly if it did.

I have swatched the shadows from the palettes below, so you can see the pigmentation of each eyeshadow. The lightest shades in both palettes are really difficult to see on camera, they blend perfectly in to my (extremely) pale skin, but they are more pigmented than they appear.

Anastasia First Row Swatches2
Soft Glam Palette: from top to bottom – Tempera; Glistening; Orange Soda; Rose Pink; Sultry; Bronze; Mulberry
Anastasia Second Row Swatches
Soft Glam Palette: from top to bottom – Dusty Rose; Fairy; Burnt Orange; Sienna; Rustic; Cyprus Umber; Noir
Revolution Top Row (2)
Velvet Rose Palette – Top Row
Revolution Middle Row1 (3)

Revolution Bottom Row
Velvet Rose Palette – Bottom Row

The swatches don’t do either palette justice. I would say that the Anastasia shadows are slightly more pigmented but both palettes are just as creamy and blendable. You do get 3 more eyeshadows in the Revolution palette and they are also larger than the Anastasia ones.  When swatching the eyeshadows, I noticed that the mattes in the Soft Glam palette felt slightly chalky, however the mattes in the Velvet Rose palette were super creamy.

I’ve played around with both palettes and created some very similar looks. Here are two looks I put together using each palette, I’ve put the photographs side by side so you can see the similarities.

Side by Side Shot

The shadows perform really well on the lids and are super easy to blend out. The intense gold shimmery shade from the Revolution palette looks stunning but has major fall out making it difficult to work with. I usually do my eye makeup first but even then I found it quite difficult to swipe the fallout away.  If you don’t typically do your eye makeup first, I’d recommend switching it up when using this eyeshadow.

Winner!

In all honesty, I reach for the Anastasia palette the most therefore I declare this the winner. The convenience of a mirror is so handy when travelling and the shadows are more pigmented so perform better on the eyelid than the Revolution ones. You can however, achieve pretty much identical looks using the Revolution palette as the colour schemes are so similar. I do think though that the Revolution palette is the perfect dupe for the Soft Glam palette, so you should definitely pick this up if your budget is slightly tighter.

Have you tried any other Revolution palettes which are dupes for high end products? Or any brand in generally which could be a drug store dupe? Let me know in the comments below!
