Decorating My Home Office with Poster Store

AD – Decorating my first home has been an absolute dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I’ve created countless Pinterest boards for specific rooms around my house, filled with home decor ideas. In June of this year, I finally got the keys to my first home. So decorating and renovating has taken over my life and become my number one priority. A gallery wall is something I have always wanted to design and bring to life in my house. I think it adds a personal touch to the room, and creates a cosy, lived in atmosphere. When creating my gallery wall, I wanted to gather my prints from one site, rather than shopping around various online shops. This is where Poster Store come in! I was kindly gifted some of their posters and frames, and chose designs that I thought would compliment my home office/makeup room.

My home office is quite neutral, I didn’t want overbearing bright colours. Despite being an office, I wanted it to have a chic yet relaxing ambience, whilst also creating a chilled work friendly vibe. The posters I chose helped me to achieve this perfectly and take me to a place of calm, simply by admiring them. I had a bare wall above my desk for a few months, and the pictures have definitely brought some warmth and personality to the room.

Poster Store have a large selection of Scandinavian design prints and frames at affordable price points. Their website contains gallery wall inspiration, perfect for if you’re struggling to imagine the theme/lay out. Poster store have a wide variety of prints to suit your taste, including nature, illustrations, quotes and fashion. They also release a new poster collection every Tuesday! Not only are the images beautifully composed, all of their posters are printed on sustainably sourced high-quality paper.

One line art No1 Illustration
One Line Art No1 – Poster Store

The first image is the Poster Store One Line Art No1 Illustration. I have always loved and admired one line drawings, I think there’s something so beautiful about them. I selected the A4 size and went with an Oak Frame, to compliment my office interior.

Birds by the beach print

The second image takes me to a place of tranquillity, if only I could teleport through the print! This is the Birds by the Beach poster. I adore spending time of the beach when on holiday, something which I haven’t done for a few years now. The sensation of warm sands in between my toes and the cooling sea breeze is my idea of bliss.

Golden Moon Phases Print
Golden Moon Phases – Poster Store

The final poster I chose is the Golden Moon Phases. I am obsessed with space and star gazing, so having a Moon print was an absolute must for me. This image encapsulates my personality, and makes my imagination go wild, with the wonders of our universe.

I had so much fun choosing the images on the Poster Store website, I think I genuinely spent hours deciding what I wanted. I am beyond happy with how the wall art has turned out, and would highly recommend using Poster Store to decorate your home. The prints and frames are affordable, yet excellent quality, with a wide variety of styles to choose from. Poster Store have kindly given me a discount code for you to go 55% off on all posters (except Selection Posters and frames). Use code: UNITLANOTHERDAY55 at checkout (not affiliate). Not combined with other discount campaigns. Valid until 10th January.

Glossybox April 2021 – an Honest Review

An honest review of April 2021 Glossybox, Woke up in Spring. Find out if I was left impressed, or bitterly disappointed.

I can’t believe we are in April already, I’ve officially been working from home for over 12 months now. Whilst WFH may not be for everyone, I bloody love it. My mental health and work stress levels have improved massively, not to mention the money I’ve saved from not commuting! Anyway, this isn’t even remotely related to the post at hand, today I’m going to share an honest review of GLOSSYBOX for April 2021.

Woke up in Spring Glossybox Leaflet

The theme for April’s GLOSSYBOX is Woke up in Spring, with the intention of mimicking the wonderful warm feeling we get this time of year, and duplicating it, with the products inside the April ‘Woke up in Spring’ GLOSSYBOX. I love spring so much, especially the blossom on the trees and the warmer, longer days!

What is inside April’s GLOSSYBOX?

Sophia + Mabelle Eyeshadow Quad

Sophia & Mabelle Eyeshadow Quad

Although I don’t wear eyeshadow quite as much as I used to (lockdown probs), I do have quite the collection. Finding new eyeshadow’s that I can add to my hoard is somewhat of a passion of mine, so to discover that this little eyeshadow quad from Sophia + Mabelle was in my GLOSSYBOX made me very excited.

Sadly though, my excitement was met with disappointment. Although the shadows in this palette scream Spring, I’m really not that keen on the formula. The only matte shade is the dark brown, but, in my opinion, this comes off quite purple once blended onto the eyelid. I think this palette would have been a lot better if it had a matte transition shade. The 3 shimmers have a chalk like texture and are not very…well shimmery. The palette is also very cool toned, and personally I opt for warmer tones, as I feel this compliments me a lot more. I’ve played around with the eyeshadow quite a few times now, but I’m of the opinion that it isn’t for me. I am also quite shocked that this palette retails for £25, I would have paid £10 tops for it, it’s definitely not worth the money.

DWTN Paris Liquid Blusher

DWTN Paris Liquid Blush

Ever since I started out wearing makeup as a teenager, I have ALWAYS used powder blush. In all honesty, I’ve been slightly scared of liquid blusher, in case the colour pay off is way to overwhelming. Last year, I purchased a Maybelline Liquid blush for the first time when I was on holiday in Florida, although it was nice, I never really reach for it, I do much prefer a powder blush.

Anyway, DWTN are a brand I have never heard of, so of course I have done a little bit of research. DWTN are are a Parisian Vegan makeup brand who combine makeup with skincare. The brand never tests on animals and strives to use 99% natural products in all of their cosmetics.

Their liquid blusher only comes in one shade from what I can see on their website, therefore this blush is unlikely to work for everyone, for reference I have pale fair skin. It is recommended to apply the blush with your fingertips, however when I tried this I found it to be too intense. Instead, I added a small amount to my hand and blotted it around my hand to make the colour muted. I then gently patted on my cheeks, creating a natural flush of colour to the face. I think this would be nice to wear with or without makeup, and the colour can be built up to create a brighter more reddish blush. I’m surprised at how much I like this blush and hope to include it in my daily makeup routine, but I doubt I would go out of my way and repurchase.

Ahava Mineral Show Gel

AHAVA Mineral Shower Gel

Travel sized shower gels are really handy, not so much these days because we can’t go anywhere, but definitely useful for when we can travel. This mineral shower gel by AHAVA contains Aloe Vera extract, which will keep the whole body hydrated. I must say, this shower gel didn’t have any scent to it. Personally, I found this disappointing because I love scented shower gels. Despite lacking in scent, the shower gel lathered up nicely and did leave my skin feeling soft. I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase a full-sized version, I have many other shower gels/body washes that I much prefer.

Minus 417 Serenity Legend – Hydrating Dead Sea Bath Salts

Minus 417 Serenity Legend - Hydrating Dead Sea Bath Salts

Baths are the perfect way to unwind and relax after a stressful day. Whenever I have a bath I love to include salts, bath bombs and bubble bath to create a spa like experience at home. To fairly test the bath salts, I didn’t use anything else in my bath. The salts disolved quickly, however I didn’t feel as though they made much of a difference to my skin. The salts didn’t add any sort of aroma to my bath, so to be truthful they were a bit of a waste of time.

Feel Free Antioxidant Eye Contour Cream

Feel Free Antioxidant Eye Contour Cream

Finding a decent eye cream is something that I have struggled with for years. I have prominent dark circles and no matter how much sleep, or eye cream I use I cannot seem to shift them. I’ve found that I cannot write a full review of an eye cream until I’ve used it all up. Eye creams take time to work, it isn’t an instant change. Therefore, I can only comment on my first impression of this cream. I found it quite tacky and could feel it sitting on my under-eyes, even though I’d blended it in. I will update this post when I’ve developed a full opinion.

April 2021 Glossybox products

This is my fourth GLOSSYBOX and up until now, I’ve been impressed. Unfortunately, the April GLOSSYBOX just didn’t cut it for me. I wasn’t massively impressed with any of the products, and certainly wouldn’t pick them up again in the future. Based on previous boxes, I’d still say GLOSSYBOX is worth it, but there may be months which are a bit hit and miss. I hate being negative on my blog, but I created it to share my honest opinions in order to help you make conscious decision when shopping for beauty products.

Winter Skincare Routine for Oily Skin

As the seasons change, so does our skin. When you begin switching out your wardrobe for warmer pieces, you should also start to transition your skincare routine too. You might be wondering why you would even need to change up your skincare with the seasons, however as the temperature begins to drop our skin can become dry and chapped, so it’s really important to keep the skin nice and hydrated. Hydration is key during Winter, yes, even if you have oily skin.

In today’s post, and my first post for a good few weeks, I wanted to share with you a somewhat affordable winter skincare routine for oily skin. I’ve called this an ‘affordable’ skincare routine because, for the most part, it contains some inexpensive products. A few are on the pricier side, but are very long lasting so are technically affordable in the long run. I’m going to break this post up into two sections, my morning skincare and my evening skincare. I use different products at night, as I’m not too worried about looking oily when I’m sleeping.

Morning Skincare Routine

Step 1 – Cleanse

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

Cleanser is such an important part of skincare, it helps remove daily pollutants, dirt and sweat from the skin. Although vital, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing an expensive cleanser, as you’re essentially pouring it down the drain, it gets washed away almost instantly.

Lately my skin has been on the senstive side, so I’ve switched across to the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. It doesn’t lather up like most cleansers, meaning it isn’t stripping the skin of vital oils. I love how soft my skin feels whenever I use this cleanser, it works well with oily skin too.

Step 2 – Toner

Pixi Glow Tonic
Pixi Glow Tonic

When searching for a toner, try to find one that is suited to your skins needs. For example, if you have acne prone skin you would want to use a toner containing Salicylic Acid. In my case, despite having oily skin, I am often prone to dry patches, therefore I reach for a toner with Glycolic Acid. The Pixi Glow Tonic works by resurfacing the top layer of skin revealing a bright and glowy complexion underneath those dead skin cells. Soak a cotton pad in your fave toner and sweep across the face.

Step 3 – Eye Cream

Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream
Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream

Choosing the right eye cream is a long and tedious process, and one I’m actually yet to master. The application, on the other hand, is very quick and easy so doesn’t need any explanation. I’m currently using the Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream, it’s very hydrating and doesn’t irritate my eye area.

Step 4 – Serum

Green People Hyaluronic Booster Serum
Green People Hyaluronic Booster Serum

Similarly to step 2, you want to chose a serum specific to your skin type. Although I have oily skin, I’ve been loving the Green People Hyaluronic Booster Serum*, it’s very lightweight and doesn’t make my skin any oilier, it’s just lovely and hydrating. Another great serum is the No7 Perfect and Protect Instense Advanced Serum, it is expensive but feels amazing on the skin, it has anti-aging properties to make the skin look younger for longer.

Step 5 – Hydration

Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray
Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray

You need to keep your skin hydrated even if you have oily skin, it can be counterintuitive to strip your skin of hydration. The skins natural reaction is to create more oil, making you more susceptible to breakouts due to the increase in oil production. A couple of times I week I like to include a couple of spritzs of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rose Water. This spray has a very calming scent and instantly makes the skin feel refreshed.

Step 6 – Moisturiser

Simple All Day Mattifying Moisturiser
Simple All Day Mattifying Moisturiser

I love playing around with my moisturisers depending on how my skin is reacting. For the most part though, I try to stick with the same one day to day. A great, and affordable (it’s only £5.99), moisturiser is the Simple All Day Mattifying Moisturiser. It’s absolutely perfect for oily skin, it’s clinicial proven to help control oils for up to 24hrs!

Step 7 – SPF

Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Face Sunscreen
Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Face Sunscreen

Yes, even in winter you should be applying an SPF. Despite the days being overcast, the suns UV rays are still present. SPF is a new thing in my skincare routine but it helps to combat the premature signs of aging. I know I’m only 24 but I don’t want to look old before my time! I’ve been using the Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Face Sunscreen*, however it’s a little on the greasy side, so if you have any SPF recommendations for oily skin, then I’m all ears!

Evening Skincare Routine

Step 1 – Double Cleanse

Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil
Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil

If you are wearing makeup, you should definitely be double cleansing. This ensures all makeup, dirt and daily pollutants are removed from your pores. For your first cleanse, it’s important to purchase either an oil or balm based cleanser. These really help to break down makeup, speeding up the removal process and ultimately are best for your skin. My all time favourite is the Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil, just 3 pumps will remove even the heaviest of makeup. Use a damp flannel to remove the oil and makeup to really clean the skin.

Follow this up with the cleanser you used in the morning, taking the time to massage your face (give yourself a mini facial if you like) to get the skin nice and clean.

Step 2 – Toner

Use the same toner as you did in the morning, so in my case it would be the Pixi Glow Tonic again.

Step 3 – Eye Cream

Again follow the same routine as you did in the morning.

Step 4 – Serum

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

Of an evening, I like to switch things up a bit with my serum. I go for something with a thicker consistancy, my current go to is The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. It’s much sticker than my Green People serum, making it the perfect alternative for my nightime routine.

Step 5 – Face Oil

Oil was a product I had never thought of including in my skincare routine up until recently. Having oilly skin made me think my skin didn’t need extra oils, but honestly it really helps! Some of my favourites are Farsali Rose Gold Elixir (I sometimes apply this in the morning too if my skin needs a little more hydration) and another fave is Bunch Skincare Balance Face Oil. I like to use the latter as part of my evening routine, it smells of lavendar so is best to use right before bed.

Step 6 – Moisturiser

I have quite a few moisturisers in my collection, during the colder months I like to use rich night creams to really nourish my skin and prevent dryness from the icy weather. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream is definitely a luxury, it’s extremely expensive to buy on its own, so look out for an Elemis bundle which contains it, because it truly is a wonderful cream. I have a review on the Elemis night cream. Now for a more realistic and affordable option, Green People’s Apple Complex Moisturiser is a winner, it’s heavier than my daily moisturiser but not as thick as the Elemis cream.

Step 7 – Tan

UTAN CBD Tanning Water
UTAN CBD Tanning Water

Pretty much every other day I love to give myself a mist of the UTAN X Jamie Genevieve CBD Tanning Water. It creates a gorgeous natural looking tan overnight. The tannng water is the perfect way to end my evening skincare routine, it’s infused with CBD and Scottish Lavendar making it calming and relaxing. I’ve even heard people saying that it’s actually helped with their acne and breakouts because of the CBD ingredient!

I hope you enjoyed reading my Step by Step Winter Skincare Routine for Oily Skin. I’ve been following these steps since about September and have noticed a massive difference in my skin. It looks radiant and I go makeup free in confidence. I also have very senstive skin and quite often have reactions to certain products, however everything I have mentioned in this post does not irritate my skin in the slightest!

Organii Everyday Organics Mouthwash Review

I’m all about finding products that help me to become more sustainable, are good for the environment and cruelty free. ORGANii Everyday Organics are just that!

*This post contains gifted items in exchange for a full and honest review*

I’m all about finding products that help me to become more sustainable, are good for the environment and cruelty free. ORGANii Everyday Organics are just that!

Organii Everyday Organics Aloe Mouthwash

I was kindly gifted two of ORGANii’s Aloe Mouthwashes to try out, Eucalyptus and Citrus flavour. Each bottle retails for £5.95 for 500ml of product, which is great value for money! The mouthwash protects teeth and gums and also helps to reduce plaque and bad breathe, everything you could ever want from a mouthwash! Not only that, they are vegan and cruelty free!

Eucalyptus Mouthwash

Contains Eucalyptus oil which has germicidal properties and works effectively against cavities, dental plaque, gingivitis and more. It is also effective in fighting bad breath.

This product doesn’t have your typical mouthwash minty/tingly sensation, probably because it uses natural and organic ingredients, instead of harsh chemicals. In my opinion, it hasn’t got the most appealing taste or scent, but is an all round great mouthwash. I pour the liquid into the cap and swirl around my mouth for at least 30 seconds after brushing my teeth, to help clean any areas that brushing may have missed. After use my mouth and teeth instantly felt fresher and cleaner.

Citrus Mouthwash

Out of the two bottles I was gifted, the Citrus flavour has to be my favourite. It contains grapefruit, orange and lemon essential oils, which, as stated by ORGANii themselves has the following benefits:

Grapefruit Oil – has antimicrobial effects that help reduce or eliminate harmful strains of bacteria.
Orange Oil – has the ability to fight bacterial growth, it can help to protect teeth and gums from infections.
Lemon Oil – has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, it works as a natural remedy for many oral conditions, including oral thrush and bad breath.

Upon trying for the first time, I was very impressed with the flavour and quality of the product. Again it didn’t have that typical mouthwash sensation but really felt as though it was giving my mouth and teeth a deep clean. I had fresher breath and cleaner feeling teeth after just one use. This mouthwash also claims to have teeth whitening properties, derived from the lemon essential oil. I can’t wait to keep using the citrus mouthwash to see if I notice a long term difference. I thought it would be worth mentioning that the bottles are made from recycled materials too!!

ORGANii sell a plethora of cruetly free and vegan products at affordable prices, including sun creams, soaps, baby products and shower gels just to name a few. I will definitely be checking out some of their other products, and I think you should too!
