New Belgian Bar Arrives in Liverpool – Belgica

Welcome to Belgica! A new Belgian Bar in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. I was invited along to their launch party, read on to see what all the fuss is about!

Bit of a different post from me today, and something I’m super excited to be sharing. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I’m a Liverpool gal through and through! I’m so proud to be from one of the best cities in the UK, you could even say patriotic.

Liverpool has a plethora of bars and restaurants throughout the city and the suburbs, but, as far as I’m aware, has never had a Belgian bar…up until now that is.

Belgica Interior
The stunning interior!

I introduce you to Belgica, the newest addition to Liverpool’s nightlife! Situated on the heart of Wood Street, next to FACT Cinema, Belgica is worth it for the vibes alone, not just for their drinks. I was lucky enough to be invited to their launch party, ahead of their grand opening. The venue is split across two levels, with a relaxed Brussels beer bar atmosphere upstairs and a medieval Bruges vibe club downstairs called the ā€˜Monastery of Soundā€™, Belgica will transport visitors to the beer-loving nation from which the venue takes its inspiration.

The launch party was filled with laughter, drunken dancing, tasty food and speciality drinks, making for a party centric, yet mellow atmosphere. If you’re looking for somewhere to have an enjoyable, and lively night out, then Beligica will tick all of the boxes.

Beef Burger

From mid-December, the full food menu will be available. Including luscious Steak Frites, delectable Ham and Gouda Croquettes, and not to mention, heavenly Belgian Waffles for dessert. We were served some sample dishes at the event, including a Beef Burger, Anti Pasti platter, the Croquettes and a delightful Biscoff Waffle. My taste buds were overwhelmed by the exquisite food and I was left wanting more.

Belgica has a wide range of Belgian Beers, including some scouse classics from Love Lane Brewery. Not into Beer? Fear not, there are plenty of cocktails, wine and spirts on the menu. The drinks are slightly more expensive than other places in Liverpool, but it’s unlikely you’ll such wide selection of Belgian beers under one roof, in another part of the city.

On the night, the staff were very attentive and helpful and not too shy to have a conversation at the bar with. Service was relatively quick and drinks were always flowing. Having spoken with other Liverpool Bloggers following the event, everyone was buzzing and are already planning their next visit, myself included!

I hope my review has convinced you to visit Belgica on your next visit into the city centre. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed and will have an evening to remember.

The Best Affordable Skincare

Being on a tight budget doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on the quality of your skincare products. In this quick skincare guide, I’ll be sharing some affordable skincare to suit anyone’s budget.

Being on a tight budget doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on the quality of your skincare products. If you didn’t already know, I purchased my first home back in June. So as you can imagine, my bank balance isn’t as full as it used to be. That being said, I never particularly splurged out on my skincare, only the occasional high-end product would make it into my collection, as I’ve always been particularly careful of how I spend my money.

Now I know you didn’t come here to learn about my spending habits, so I better get a move on and talk about the main reason you are reading this post…The Best Affordable Skincare products!

Cleansers

After reading skinCARE: The ultimate no-nonsense guide, I decided to only purchase ‘cheap’ cleansers. Caroline Hirons made a perfectly valid point on cleansers. Why waste money on an expensive cleanser when it basically gets washed down the drain, I couldn’t agree more! In this section, I will share some affordable effective cleanser products to help keep the skin clean and clear.

Lacura Moisturising Face Wash – 99p

Lacura Moisturising Face Wash

Yes. You did read that correctly. Just 99p for a face wash! Lacura is Aldi’s very own affordable skincare brand. The brand features a range of products (I will be including some more of their products further into this post) to meet everyone’s skincare requirements. This cleanser lathers up into a sort of foam, it doesn’t strip the skin and make it feel dry either. The Lacura Face Wash reminds me of the Simple Moisturising Facial Wash, it’s almost identical, but a lot cheaper. Lacura are also cruelty free, making it a well-rounded ethical and budget friendly brand. This face wash contains Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin B3 and Bisabolol and is 100% soap free, making it suitable for all skin types.

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – Ā£9.50 or Ā£15 (depending on size)

This cleanser definitely isn’t as cheap as the first, but is really good. If you’re not a fan of foaming cleansers, then the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser would be perfect for you. It comes in two sizes of varying prices. Whilst Ā£15 might seem expensive for a cleanser, it lasts a really long time, so is a great investment. The smaller size cleanser is more affordable, retailing for around Ā£9.50.

Serums

I had never really incorporated serums into my skincare routine until around 18 months ago. When the pandemic hit, I was thrust into working from home full-time, so I wasn’t wearing makeup as often. I decided to concentrate on skincare more, and that’s when I discovered serums…they are life changing! My skin has never looked better.

Revolution Skincare 3% Vitamin C Serum – Ā£8.00

Revolution Vitamin C Radiance Serum

I picked this serum up randomly one day when I was browsing the shelves in Superdrug, and I am so glad I did. My skin seems to love Vitamin C, whenever I use a Vitamin C skincare product my skin glows! This serum is ideal for boosting radiance and I certainly notice how the texture of my skin improves. This was my first time trying a Revolution Skincare product, I have been completely blown away but the quality and affordability. All Revolution Skincare products are vegan and cruelty free!

Lacura Q10 Multi-Intensive Serum – Ā£2.99

Lacura Q10 Serum

Another of Aldi’s fantastic bargain skincare items, that you must add to your cosmetics drawer. The packaging of this Q10 serum is very similar to Nivea’s Q10 range! This serum claims to help smooth skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Whilst I cannot particularly comment on the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles (given that I have just turned 25), I can certainly mention how brightening and smoothing this serum is. I actually find it to be very hydrating and it has the most beautiful refreshing scent!

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum – Ā£5.90

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

This next serum needs no introduction, as I feel it is included in everyone’s skincare routine. Hyaluronic Acid is a staple product for me, I use it daily, morning and evening. It’s a hydrating serum, I was always a little apprehensive about including such a hydrating product into my skincare, because of my oily skin, but I had nothing to fear. Although moisturising, this hyaluronic acid is by no means ‘oily’, so it doesn’t add a greasy shine to the skin. It’s like a glass of water for your skin, it sinks deep into the skin and creates a natural looking glow.

Moisturiser

Okay so I’m a little gutted about this next one. I had another Aldi Lacura product lined up to discuss, but it appears to be discontinued, although my local Aldi do still have this in stock. I only purchased mine about 3-4 months ago as well, it was their Q10 Renew Night Cream, but there isn’t much point in me talking about it now. It’s pretty rubbish when you find a product that works and it gets discontinued.

Cetraben Cream – Ā£4.99

Cetraben Cream

For many years I have suffered with eczema flare ups on various parts of my body, particularly my face and hands. I need to use prescribed steroid creams from the chemist to clear up the worst episodes. However, I find that the Cetraben Cream is wonderful for soothing those itchy bouts of eczema or dermatitis. It’s a rather oily greasy cream, so use sparingly on the face if you have oily or combination skin. I tried this cream for the first time in one of my GLOSSYBOX subscriptions a few months back, and I have been using it ever since.

So there you have it, I’ve featured six affordable skincare products to suit even the tightest of budgets. I adore each and every one of these skincare products and cannot recommend them enough. I am always bargain hunting to find affordable yet effective beauty products. Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned? Do you have any cheap beauty favourites that you swear by? I’d love to chat everything skincare in the comments, Twitter or Instagram!

PMD Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth Review

AD / Everyone should be making an effort to become more eco-friendly. But why stop when it comes to a beauty routine. PMD have the answer to this with their sustainable Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth. Read my review to find out more!

AD – In my opinion, everyone should be making an effort to help the planet and become a tad more environmentally friendly. Whether that be by using reusable shopping bags, no waste period products, or simply recycling plastics and glass. If you could create a more eco-friendly beauty routine, would you?

I certainly love to incorporate products or beauty tools into my daily routine, that not only benefit me, but the world around me too. PMD Beauty have launched a new quick and easy sustainable way to wipe away makeup, with their Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth. This cloth is reusable so can be used time and time again, without having a negative impact on the environment.

PMD Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth

The cloth itself is made up of tiny microfibres that, when wet, cling to makeup and gently lift it from the skin. Due to the nature of the microfibre properties, creams or oils are not required to remove even the most stubborn of makeup. Simply use with warm water and your skin will be makeup free in a matter of moments. Not only does the Silverpureā„¢ help the planet, it will also help your wallet! Retailing for Ā£28.00, you will save so much by avoiding wasteful makeup wipes and other makeup removing products.

Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth

Worried about hygiene? As the name suggests the Silverpureā„¢ is infused with actual Silver! Silver is antibacterial and will not harbour or spread any bacteria, making it incredibly hygienic.

I have used the PMD makeup removing cloth quite a lot already and it has gone through the washing machine countless times, but still works just as well as its first usage. It removes makeup thoroughly without the need for additional cleansing products. It is gentle on the skin and the cloth is very soft, making it perfect for sensitive skin. Although I haven’t travelled much recently, I will definitely be taking the Silverpureā„¢ Makeup Removing Cloth on any future vacations. If I need to pack light, the Silverpureā„¢ would make the best travel companion!

Silverpureā„¢ Directions for Use

I feel very lucky to have worked with PMD for the third time. I think they are a great brand, with some fantastic beauty tools. The PMD Personal Microderm is perfect for improving the texture of the skin. The PMD Clean Body creates a relaxing bathtime routine, whilst also keeping the skin fresh and supple.

Where I’ve been for the last few months…

Over the past few months I have been absent from my blog for a number of reasons. In this post I will be sharing what I’ve been up to!

Some of you may, or may not, have noticed that I’ve been absent from my blog for a few months now. This is due to a number of differing factors, but I’m hoping to start gradually coming back to the blogging community.

Once life started to get back to some sort of normality, as covid restrictions started to lift, my time for blogging was somewhat limited. My day job started getting busier, and my social life picked up (slightly), again, so blogging wasn’t really at the forefront of my mind. This mixed with the fact that my creative juices stopped flowing, I decided it was time to focus my efforts elsewhere.

My attention was pulled massively away from blogging, not just for the minor reasons already listed, but because of something life changing! Don’t worry, it’s nothing sinister!

I bought my first home…eeeek!!!!

After an agonising 8 month wait, we finally got the keys to our first home on Friday 25 June 2021! As I write this, over 3 months later, I still haven’t moved in. The house I bought wasn’t exactly ready to move into straight away, there was A LOT, that we needed to do. Apart from the obvious stripping of wallpaper, the entire house needed to be re-plastered, which of course was time consuming and very, very expensive. We contracted someone out to do the plastering, but the rest of the work was left to us to fix.

Over the past few months, I have spent countless evenings and weekends prepping and painting the house. It’s been a long ride, it’s almost one whole year since we actually put our offer in on the house, but I think we are finally on the home stretch. Just a couple more weeks and I will move into my first home with my boyfriend.

The house buying journey was beyond stressful, my boyfriend and I have had more stress than excitement over the past 12 months. The process wasn’t what we expected and we hit quite a few hurdles along the way, there have been tears of joy, stress, anger and sadness, most on the same day!

I created an Instagram account specific to my home renovation, where I regularly share updates on stories and grid posts. I hope to feature some home content on my blog in the near future, but the main place I will be sharing home blog content will be on my Instagram account – @little.number.seven

So, as you can tell, I’ve had a massive lifestyle change this year. I hope you can forgive me for the lack of blogging and social media engagement of late. When I become more settled into my new routine, I will be putting more effort into blogging again.

PMD Clean Body: Is it Worth it?

The PMD Clean Body has been a popular skincare device in the blogging community for so long now. Read on to find out if I’m a fan!

This post contains gifted products

Last year, I was lucky enough to partner with PMD Beauty to test out there Personal Microderm device, which I am now fully obsessed with! Recently, PMD asked if I wanted to work them again to try out their Clean Body, which of course, I couldn’t turn down.

The PMD Clean Body has been a popular skincare device in the blogging community for so long now, and I can fully see why. The device has four different vibration settings and comes with magnetic interchangeable heads, depending on your skincare needs.

Magnetic Attachments

Cleanse

The cleanse setting is equipped with soft silicone bristles which gently cleanse the entire body. The bristles are anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and odour resistant. Personally, I’ve used the cleanse setting on my face to give myself a mini facial, using the lowest vibration. I found it to be very gentle and my skin felt cleaner than ever after use. If you’d prefer a skincare device specific to your face, why not try the PMD Clean instead.

Gentle Exfoliation

The Silver Infused Loofah is anti-bacterial and exfoliates the skin without spreading bacteria. This head is perfect for an all-over body cleanse, I’d suggest switching up the vibration settings for a luxurious and relaxing shower. The Silverscrub lathers up shower gel nicely and isn’t harsh on the skin at all.

PMD Clean Body with attachments:

Cleanse
Gentle Exfoliation
Intense Exfoliation
Massage

Intense Exfoliation

I LOVE this attachment! It’s definitely an intense exfoliation, but leaves my skin super soft whenever I use it. It isn’t something I would use daily, maybe once or twice per week. I can get dry skin and small bumps on my arms and legs (Keratosis Pilaris), and the intense exfoliation attachment helped to smooth out my skin. This is also perfect to use during a pedicure to remove any hard callous skin from the feet.

Massage

Using the PMD Clean Body is pretty sensual anyway, but the Relax Body Massager Head will leave you in a state of blissful relaxation. The massager can be used in the shower, and with moisturiser or body oil! The handle is long enough to massage your entire back. It is particularly nice to use after a workout, as it helps to relieve tight muscles.

The Review

Despite being expensive (retailing for Ā£145), the PMD Clean Body is definitely a great investment, once you start using it, you will be hooked from the get go. The device is chargeable and takes around 3hrs for a full charge. A charging USB cable is supplied, and can be inserted into bottom of the device.

PMD Clean Body USB Charging Cable

Of course the Clean Body is completely waterproof so can be used in the bath or shower, without fear of damage (or electricution). Not only can it be used in water, but can be used dry, to massage the skin or with moisturiser, as mentioned earlier.

I adore finding new ways to improve my self care routine, the PMD Clean Body is the perfect bodycare device to use when winding down of an evening. Not only does it give you squeaky clean skin, but helps aid relaxtion. I’m dying to run myself a warm bubble bath, read a book and use the Clean Body for a super chilled bedtime routine.

Thinking of making the splurge? Feel free to ask questions in the comments or DM me on Twitter or Instagram!

Glossybox June 2021 Review

A new month brings with it a new GLOSSYBOX review. The theme of June 2021’s GLOSSYBOX is ‘Dreaming of Paradise’, which I’m sure all of us are doing right now.

June is finally here, the weather is brighter and warmer and so is my mood! I can’t believe we are 6 months into 2021 already, time seems to be going quicker then ever before. A new month brings with it a new GLOSSYBOX review. The theme of June 2021’s GLOSSYBOX is ‘Dreaming of Paradise’, which I’m sure all of us are doing right now. GLOSSYBOX had a golden ticket campaign this month, kinda like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If you received a golden ticket, you could have won a new summer wardrobe from I Saw It First, unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones and didn’t get a golden ticket. Anyway, lets get into the review!

The Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Lip Oil – Sacrebleu

he Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Lip Oil - Sacrebleu

I have wanted to try a lip oil for so long now, so I was very pleased to find one in my June GLOSSYBOX. I vaguely remember hearing of The Beauty Crop many years ago, but this was my first time trying one of their products. The Oui Cherie Lip Oil felt very hydrating on the lips, it was super glossy without feeling sticky or tacky. Upon first inspection of the lip oil, I assumed it would appear clear on the lips, however it actually develops into a pink shade. I’m a fan of the lip oil itself, however the colour isn’t the most flattering on me. Layering the lip oil over the top of a lipstick makes it a little more wearable.

Nip & Fab Vitamin C Scrub Fix

Nip & Fab Vitamin C Scrub Fix

My skin adores vitamin C, it always looks a lot brighter whenever I use it. I’ve tried a couple of Nip & Fab products over the years and I do really like them. The Vitamin C Scrub Fix contains vitamin C (obviously), coffee seed extract and coconut oil to help cleanse and nourish the skin. Apparently these ingredients are also amazing for reducing fine lines and wrinkles too! I really like this face scrub, the exfoliating particles aren’t too harsh on the skin, but still leave the skin looking fresher and less dry. I don’t often use physical exfoliators on my face, I usually opt for chemical exfoliants, but this certainly makes a nice change. Personally, I wouldn’t use a physical exfoliator every day, but this does feel gentle enough for every day use.

Mitchell & Peach English Leaf Body Oil

Mitchell & Peach English Leaf Body Oil

I have never actually tried a body oil before, I always reach for body lotions or butters. The English Leaf body oil from Mitchell & Peach contains almond oil and vitamin E which is supposed to leave the skin feeling soft. It is described as smelling of ‘freshly cut meadow grass’, which I have to disagree with, it smells more like a herbal tea to me. I found the oil to make my skin feel a little on the greasy side, it seemed to take hours to sink into my skin properly. I much prefer using a lotion to moisturise my skin, as they tend to fast absorbing. I wouldn’t go out of my way to pick this up again, but I won’t let my experience stop me from sampling body oils in the future.

Cetraben Cream

Cetraben Cream

I was over the moon to discover a cream specifically for eczema prone skin. I often suffer with eczema quite severely, mainly on my hands and face, I have to use prescription steroid creams occasionally. Cetraben Cream will hydrate, soothe and repair dry skin, it also helps to protect the skin against irritants. I’ve been testing this cream out during my evening skincare routine as it’s on the thicker side. I wake up with super plump and hydrating skin, which is great when having eczema flare ups. I would definitely purchase this again to calm inflamed skin.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush

Batiste has always been my go-to dry shampoo brand, I usually go for the tinted Dry Shampoo for dark hair to help avoid a white cast in my hair. The Blush scent smells so nice (it contains lily, peony and freesia, so very floral) and it helps to make my hair look fresher in between washing. I don’t like to use too much of this particular version because it can leave visible white residue. The deluxe mini received in GLOSSYBOX would make the perfect travel friendly size.

KIND Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Bar

I think my favourite product in July’s GLOSSYBOX has to be the Nip & Fab Vitamin C Scrub Fix, followed by a close second of the Cetraben cream. This months GLOSSYBOX also included a little treat, I received the KIND Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Bar which was really tasty. It was a lovely little surprise addition to the box.

Triyit Surprise and Delight Campaign Review

For those of you who have followed my blog for a while, will know that I reguarly receive boxes from Triyit. Triyit are a product discovery company, who send products to reviewers to test for FREE. I don’t want to go into too much detail here, so if you haven’t already seen my other Triyit reviews, I’ve linked them below.

Triyit New Year New Me Review
Triyit Find a Fave Review

This post contains free products for review / testing purposes.

Mikes Hard Seltzer with a Hint of Natural Lime

Mikes Hard Seltzer with a Hint of Natural Lime

I have tried Hard Seltzers in the past but haven’t been too keen. However the Lime version by Mikes was very refreshing, it didn’t tast alchoholic at all, and the Lime added a nice freshness to the drink. Although it was quite nice, I wouldn’t say it was the tastiest cocktail type drink I’ve ever tried, it wasn’t very sweet. Therefore I wouldn’t re-purchase, if you like sparkling water then you’d definitely enjoy this Hard Seltzer.

Butchers Meaty Treats

Butchers Meaty Treats

Triyit love to include treats for pets in their campaigns, it’s such a cute idea! The box included some Butchers Meaty Turkey Treats which my dog absolutely loved. Oscar is quite a fussy eater, so if he doesn’t like something, he will spit it out. He couldn’t get enough of these Butchers treats, I would pick these up for him again if I spotted them in the shops. The treats are made from natural ingredients and the packaging is planet friendly, 10/10 Butchers!

Bounce Peanut Protein Ball

Bounce Peanut Protein Ball

I was super intriqued to try out this Protein Ball from Bounce, as it was something I’d never heard of before. This little ball is high in fibre, palm oil free and contains natural ingredients. The texture was quite unusual but it tasted delicious, it was on the drier side, but if you are a peanut butter fan then this snack will be right up your street. I found the Protein Ball to be very filling, it was a great afternoon treat.

Cheeky Panda Biodegradable Bamboo Cleansing Facial Wipes

Cheeky Panda Biodegradable Bamboo Cleansing Facial Wipes

I stopped using face wipes about 12 months ago due to their negative impact on the environment. Cheeky Panda have invented their own environmentally friendly face wipes from Bamboo. The wipes are completely biodegradable and compostable, meaning they won’t be sitting in landfill for years to come. Face wipes can be very handy to remove makeup when in a rush or out and about. I still make sure to double cleanse before bed even if I’ve used a face wipe, I want to keep my skin in tip top condition. With that being said, the Cheeky Panda wipes are super soft on the skin and helped remove visible makeup well. If I desperately need face wipes, I’ll definitely reach for the Cheeky Panda wipes from now on.

Idahoan Bacon and Cheese Perfect Mash

Idahoan Bacon and Cheese Perfect Mash

Powdered mashed potato has always made me giggle, just boil some potatoes and mash them up for crying out loud! For busy families the Idahoan Perfect Mash would make meal times less troublesome, as it can be made in minutes. I was sent the Bacon & Cheese Mash to try, and it was suprisingly really tasty. I much prefer normal mashed potato, however this was super quick to make and had a nice, none powdery taste to it. Idahoan have various flavours of Mash available, including Roasted Garlic, Chedder Cheese, Butter & Herb, plus many more. I’d love to give their Roasted Garlic flavour a try.

Nudie Snacks Cauliflower Crisps

udie Snacks Cauliflower Crisps

I LOVE vegetable crisps, I don’t know what it is about them, I just can’t get enough. I was sent the Cauliflower Crisps Cheese and Carmalised Onion flavour. They were very flavoursome, some vegetable crisps can be quite bland, however the Nudie Snacks crisps were packed full of intense Cheese and Onion. The crisps themselves don’t even remotely resemble a vegetable, or taste like Cauliflower for that matter. I think they’d be great for fussy children who refuse to eat vegetables. The crisps are also vegan and gluten free too.

I absolutely love using Triyit to sample different products. It’s a great way of discovering new food and drink that you wouldn’t normally pick up during the weekly shop. My favourite item this time has to be the Cauliflowers Crisps, I would 100% purchase these again if I spotted them in store. Do you like the sound of the products I’ve received? Sign up to Triyit now so you’re in with a chance of recieving some free goodies.

How to Care for Pale Skin in the Sun

Protecting our skin against the sun during the Summer is extremely important, especially for those that burn easily. My 6 tips will leave you will gorgeous sunkissed skin, with no sunburn in sight!

The warmer months have finally arrived! This is welcomed news for many, however if you have fair skin, which burns easily, you may not be too pleased. Do you struggle with sun burn in the summer? Or do you simply not tan? I’m here today to provide you with some tips to care for pale skin in the summer sunshine.

Nobody wants to get painful sunburn, prickly heat or skin peeling from sitting outside. Taking extra measures in your tanning routine can really help limit the chances of these things occurring. Being exposed to the sun for longer periods of time can have a massive impact throughout your life, the dangers of sunburn include premature wrinkling/ageing, increased risk of skin cancer. Once the damage is done to the skin, it is impossible to reverse. I am by no means trying to scare you, just simply laying out the facts, to encourage you to care for your skin. Over the years I have gotten sunburnt many times, including having sun stroke/heat stroke twice…both when I was much younger. I even got burnt badly last summer when I visited Cornwall.

This post contains items which were previously gifted as part of an Influenster Campaign

6 Tips for Caring for Pale/Fair Skin in the Summer

1. Use a high factor sun cream

Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion

This may seem like the obvious choice, but us pale skin people really should be using a factor 50+ sunscreen. For years I was using lower SPFs thinking I was more likely to tan, but that just wasn’t the case. When applying sun cream, make sure to top it up every 30 – 40 minutes of sun exposure, this will help maintain maximum protection. Use SPFs which are broad spectrum and protect against UVA and UVB rays. My current favourite suncreams are from Bondi Sands, I sat out in the sun for over 2 hours in 26 degree heat, topping up my cream regularly and I ended up with a sunkissed complexion, rather than burning,

2. Include SPF as part of your daily skincare routine

Bondi Sands Face SPF 50 + Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion

Over the past 12 months I have noticed everyone trying to include SPF in the daily skincare routines, me being one of them. Adding this extra step will really help to protect the skin against sun damage and premature ageing. I have been using the Bondi Sands Face SPF 50+ Sunscreen Lotion most days, even when the sky is overcast, or raining! I have oily skin and this SPF works great underneath my makeup. I always use my trusty ELF Poreless Putty Primer over the top, and never have any issues with the primer and SPF splitting or pilling.

3. Don’t sit in the sun for prolonged periods of time

Photo by Ethan Robertson on Unsplash

Try to limit your sun exposure if you have fair skin. I understand that everyone wants to have a tan, but spending too much time in the sun can be harmful. If sunbathing in your garden, at a pool, or beach, make sure to have a shaded area easily available. When the sun is getting a tad too hot, you can take shelter in the shade to cool down. Still make sure to apply your sun cream in the shade though, the suns rays are very powerful.

4. Keep your head covered

Photo by 邱 äø„ on Unsplash

Make sure to have a cap or floppy hat to hand on a hot day. Hats will keep the sun out of your face and off your head, keeping you cooler and preventing scalp sunburn.

5. Don’t exfoliate your skin too often

Nobody wants dry cracked skin and it can be very tempting to over exfoliate our bodies to prevent this. However if you plan to sit out in the sun, don’t exfoliate all of the time. Exfoliation removes the top layer of skin, meaning it is more likely to burn. If you plan to exfoliate, make sure to regularly top up your sun cream, maybe more often than normal, to prevent burning,

6. Keep the skin hydrated with moisturiser and after sun

Mine Tan Rapid Recovery After Sun Gel

Caring for pale skin doesn’t stop when the sun goes in. After sun bathing, make sure to completely wash off any sun cream in the shower, this will prevent clogged pores. If using a facial SPF, double cleanse your skin with an oil/gel based cleanser, followed by your normal face wash. This will keep the skin clear and reduce the risk of breakouts. After the sunscreen has been completely washed away, go in with a thick hydrating moisturiser, or after sun if your skin is a little on the pink side. Lately, I’ve been using the Mine Tan Moisturzing After Sun Gel, which was in my May GLOSSYBOX and I love it! Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will also keep your skin in tip top condition.

I hope you found some new tips to help keep your skin safe this Summer. I swear by these steps, they have massively helped my skin and prevented sun burn over the past few weeks. Do you have any tips for protecting the skin against sunburn?

How The Midnight Library Changed my Life

A fiction book changing someones life sounds a tad melodramatic doesn’t it? However, after reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, I can truly say it has changed my perspective on life, here’s how.

I finished reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig in just under a week. I absolutely devoured the book, I could have finished it a lot sooner, but wanted to savour every word. The Midnight Library has completely changed my perspective on life (not wanting to sound extreme). Although a fiction novel, it contains valuable life lessons which we can ALL learn from. Here is why The Midnight Library changed my life.

The Midnight Library book by Matt Haig

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I want to share a little background on the book, don’t worry I won’t give any spoilers. The Midnight Library is a place in between life and death where there are infinite possible lives a person could have lived. The main protagonist, Nora Seed, is given the opportunity to live the other lives she may have lived, by underdoing her regrets and choosing differently.

Three Ways The Midnight Library Changed my Life

  1. Stop worrying about regrets – Every one of us has some form of regret, whether that’s not going to University, cancelling plans with friends, or not saying yes to a guy/gal that asked you out. Instead of dwelling on things that I didn’t do, I’m going to flip them on their head and turn them into positives. For example, if I went to University, the chances are I wouldn’t be in the job I currently have. I love my day job and have progressed higher up the ranks over the years. I didn’t go to University to get where I am, so why should I dwell on not going, when I’m happy!
  2. Don’t take things for granted – Throughout life, we either make small decisions ourselves, or small things happen which are out of our control. These could have a huge impact on our lives without us realising. For example, a red traffic light slowing down a journey. This exact scenario happened to me a few years ago, stopping at the red light prevented my boyfriend and I from being in a car accident. A few moments after carrying on with our journey we witnessed a car crash, which we likely would have been caught in if the light hadn’t turned red. A red light can be frustrating, but it might just change the course of your life.
  3. It’s helped with grief…kinda – over the past two years my life has been filled with heartbreak and grief. My Grandad sadly passed away in December 2019, right before Christmas. It was unexpected and I really struggled to come to terms with it. Last, November, a family friend of mine past away at just 18 years old from SUDEP, Suddent Epileptic Death Syndrome. A fiction book helping with grief seems a little dramatic, but for me, as someone who constantly thinks of parallel universes and life after death, it gave me a new concept to consider when dealing with life and death. Personally, I find it rather comforting that when we die, there is something beyond simply no longer existing.
The Midnight Library Back Cover Blurb

I truly loved every moment of The Midnight Library, and I would urge everyone to read it. It’s one of those books that is completely deserving of the hype it has received, I will definitely re-read this book at some point in the future. Over the years, I have read a couple of Matt Haig books, every one of them is beautifully written, and deserving of some form of award. I loved How to Stop Time and Reasons to Stay Alive. Humans is sitting on my shelf ready to read too!

Have you read The Midnight Library? Did you love it as much as I did?

May 2021 Glossybox Review

Wanting to try Glossybox, but don’t know if it’s worth it? I’ll be sharing an honest review of Glossybox’s Let The Sun Shine May box!

May is finally here! I was hoping to be writing the start of this post on a gorgeous sunny May day, but alas it’s 20mph winds and rain *sigh*. Another month brings with it another GLOSSYBOX. If you read my April GLOSSYBOX review, you’ll know I was bitterly disappointed with it’s contents. With that being said, I was very much looking forward to May’s box, because it brings with it a unique box design. Without further ado, let’s get reviewing!

Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun Gel

Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun Gel

Whenever the sun shows her face I somehow always get sunburnt…yes, even when I wear suncream! I have extremely fair skin that the sun cannot seem to stay away from. After Sun has always been a must-have product, especially when I’m travelling. Last July, I visited Cornwall and had such painful sunburn on my legs, I looked like a Squashie sweet!! Anyway, I haven’t been able to try out the Minetan Rapid Recovery After Sun just yet, the weather is pretty dull at the moment, but as soon as the sun makes an apperance I will definitely be trying this out.

Ciate London Gold Definer Liner

Ciate London Gold Definer Liner

Eyeliner isn’t something I wear all that often, especially not shimmer liners. The Gold Definer Liner by Ciate London is gorgeous. The first time I used this, I applied to the inner corner of my eyes to add a pop of bright shimmer. I found the liner to be very creamy, and the colour pay off to be very strong. I didn’t need to apply much for this to show up on my eyes. I’m going to be playing around with this a lot, to try it out in different ways. Dark liners tend to smudge onto my lower lash line, I really want to find out if Ciate London have a dark eyeliner in a similar formula to see how this fairs on my eyes!

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Eye Masks

Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Masks

Most mornings I wake up with puffy, tired eyes, so I gave the Dragons Blood Eyes Masks by Rodial Beauty a try during my morning skincare routine. After washing my face, I applied the patches to my dark circles. I found them quite fiddly to apply, the masks have two cloth protective covers on each side that I had to remove before applying. The packaging recommends to leave on for 20-30 minutes. When I removed the patches, my eyes looked less puffy and brightened. I was massively impressed by the difference, my under eyes also felt hydrated and nourished. I would definitely consider picking these up again in the future.

Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel

Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel

I am OBSESSED with the scent of the Kueshi Lemon Shower Gel, it smells exactly like a Lemon Drizzle Cake! I found that I needed to apply quite a lot of the shower gel to my body puff for it to lather up nicely. However, the shower gel itself is very enjoyable to use. My body felt clean and hydrated, some scented shower gels can dry out the skin, but this one didn’t. Although I loved it, I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to repurchase because it’s a little more expensive to what I usually buy, it retails for Ā£5.70.

Lottie London Power Foil

Lottie London Power Foil

I’m not going to lie, pigments scare me. I’m so paranoid that I’m going to have masses of glittery fall-out across my entire face. The Power Foil from Lottie London is simply stunning, the shade Golden Hour is perfect for every day wear, but can definitely be used to glam up any eye makeup look. I made sure to do my eyes first, to avoid the dreaded glitter face, but much to my surprise, there wasn’t much fall-out at all. I used a small flat brush to apply, but for a more intense shimmer and colour pay off, I’d use my finger. I can see myself using this product a lot, I feel that it can be worn at any point throughout the year. I’m super impressed by Lottie London with this eye shimmer, I’d love to see if they do other shades!

May Glossybox leaflet

May’s GLOSSYBOX was a lot more impressive then lasts months box. I think my favourite product has to be Lottie London Power Foil, I loved how this looked on my eyes. Did you receive May’s GLOSSYBOX, what were your thoughts on the box? If you would like to sign up to GLOSSYBOX I have a referral friend link, were I receive Ā£5 credit if someone joins using my link.
