I can’t believe we are in April already, I’ve officially been working from home for over 12 months now. Whilst WFH may not be for everyone, I bloody love it. My mental health and work stress levels have improved massively, not to mention the money I’ve saved from not commuting! Anyway, this isn’t even remotely related to the post at hand, today I’m going to share an honest review of GLOSSYBOX for April 2021.

The theme for April’s GLOSSYBOX is Woke up in Spring, with the intention of mimicking the wonderful warm feeling we get this time of year, and duplicating it, with the products inside the April ‘Woke up in Spring’ GLOSSYBOX. I love spring so much, especially the blossom on the trees and the warmer, longer days!
What is inside April’s GLOSSYBOX?
Sophia + Mabelle Eyeshadow Quad

Although I don’t wear eyeshadow quite as much as I used to (lockdown probs), I do have quite the collection. Finding new eyeshadow’s that I can add to my hoard is somewhat of a passion of mine, so to discover that this little eyeshadow quad from Sophia + Mabelle was in my GLOSSYBOX made me very excited.
Sadly though, my excitement was met with disappointment. Although the shadows in this palette scream Spring, I’m really not that keen on the formula. The only matte shade is the dark brown, but, in my opinion, this comes off quite purple once blended onto the eyelid. I think this palette would have been a lot better if it had a matte transition shade. The 3 shimmers have a chalk like texture and are not very…well shimmery. The palette is also very cool toned, and personally I opt for warmer tones, as I feel this compliments me a lot more. I’ve played around with the eyeshadow quite a few times now, but I’m of the opinion that it isn’t for me. I am also quite shocked that this palette retails for £25, I would have paid £10 tops for it, it’s definitely not worth the money.
DWTN Paris Liquid Blusher

Ever since I started out wearing makeup as a teenager, I have ALWAYS used powder blush. In all honesty, I’ve been slightly scared of liquid blusher, in case the colour pay off is way to overwhelming. Last year, I purchased a Maybelline Liquid blush for the first time when I was on holiday in Florida, although it was nice, I never really reach for it, I do much prefer a powder blush.
Anyway, DWTN are a brand I have never heard of, so of course I have done a little bit of research. DWTN are are a Parisian Vegan makeup brand who combine makeup with skincare. The brand never tests on animals and strives to use 99% natural products in all of their cosmetics.
Their liquid blusher only comes in one shade from what I can see on their website, therefore this blush is unlikely to work for everyone, for reference I have pale fair skin. It is recommended to apply the blush with your fingertips, however when I tried this I found it to be too intense. Instead, I added a small amount to my hand and blotted it around my hand to make the colour muted. I then gently patted on my cheeks, creating a natural flush of colour to the face. I think this would be nice to wear with or without makeup, and the colour can be built up to create a brighter more reddish blush. I’m surprised at how much I like this blush and hope to include it in my daily makeup routine, but I doubt I would go out of my way and repurchase.
Ahava Mineral Show Gel

Travel sized shower gels are really handy, not so much these days because we can’t go anywhere, but definitely useful for when we can travel. This mineral shower gel by AHAVA contains Aloe Vera extract, which will keep the whole body hydrated. I must say, this shower gel didn’t have any scent to it. Personally, I found this disappointing because I love scented shower gels. Despite lacking in scent, the shower gel lathered up nicely and did leave my skin feeling soft. I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase a full-sized version, I have many other shower gels/body washes that I much prefer.
Minus 417 Serenity Legend – Hydrating Dead Sea Bath Salts

Baths are the perfect way to unwind and relax after a stressful day. Whenever I have a bath I love to include salts, bath bombs and bubble bath to create a spa like experience at home. To fairly test the bath salts, I didn’t use anything else in my bath. The salts disolved quickly, however I didn’t feel as though they made much of a difference to my skin. The salts didn’t add any sort of aroma to my bath, so to be truthful they were a bit of a waste of time.
Feel Free Antioxidant Eye Contour Cream

Finding a decent eye cream is something that I have struggled with for years. I have prominent dark circles and no matter how much sleep, or eye cream I use I cannot seem to shift them. I’ve found that I cannot write a full review of an eye cream until I’ve used it all up. Eye creams take time to work, it isn’t an instant change. Therefore, I can only comment on my first impression of this cream. I found it quite tacky and could feel it sitting on my under-eyes, even though I’d blended it in. I will update this post when I’ve developed a full opinion.

This is my fourth GLOSSYBOX and up until now, I’ve been impressed. Unfortunately, the April GLOSSYBOX just didn’t cut it for me. I wasn’t massively impressed with any of the products, and certainly wouldn’t pick them up again in the future. Based on previous boxes, I’d still say GLOSSYBOX is worth it, but there may be months which are a bit hit and miss. I hate being negative on my blog, but I created it to share my honest opinions in order to help you make conscious decision when shopping for beauty products.
Until Another Day x
I used to love Glossybox but found that some months, the boxes just didn’t have that wow factor for me. Its a great way of discovering new products that you grow to love though.

I’ve been subscribed to Glossybox since January and this was the first box I really wasn’t a fan of. I’m hoping May’s box has the wow factor x

That DWTN blush – or at the very least, the packaging! – is speaking to me…I would love to try it! I used to be subscribed to Birchbox as I was a newbie in the beauty department, but I ended up giving up after a year…sometimes it’s not as exciting as other months!

I realised afterwards that I should have included a swatch of the blush, it’s quite a deep rosey colour but it is very flattering and can be muted down. I used to be subscribed to Birchbox too but I just didn’t like the products x

April’s box was a bit of a let down but every other month I have received has been wonderful x

I was never a big fan of subscription boxes because you either really love all the products or not and now you have all these different things that most likely won’t get used.

Most of the time I do love the products, but it can be a bit hit and miss occasionally. The products that I don’t enjoy I would definitely pass on to someone else who would get use out of it x

Thanks for writing a very good and honest review. The liquid blush sounds like a great product, I also love brands that combine makeup and skincare. I’ve seen a pretty cool video of this liquid blush used on the cheeks, lips, and as an eyeshadow.
