Valentines Day

Lockdown Valentines Day Date Night Ideas

Lockdown doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice a romantic evening with your partner. We may be unable to go out to a restaurant for a candle lit dinner, or stay the night in a fancy hotel, but all is not lost. I have put together a selection of at home romantic Valentine’s Day date night ideas, I hope you enjoy.

Cook a meal together

Spend some time in the kitchen together and whip up your favourite meal. You could even experiment and create a dish that you have never made before. I always enjoy cooking with my boyfriend, it’s so much fun working together and then sitting down to demolish the freshly prepared meal. Light a few candles and pour each other a tasty cocktail. This is such a simple idea, but one I’m sure you and your partner would enjoy.

If neither of you are a particularly good cook, supermarkets such as M&S often create a 3 course Valentine’s meal, which are always amazing value for money.

Have an indoor picnic or buffet

Another idea for the foodies out there. Why not pick up a few picnic items like scotch eggs, pork pies or buffet nibbles. Lay a picnic blanket out on the living room floor, light some candles or decorate the room with some fairy lights. This is something I will definitely be doing this Valentines day.

Zoom Date

I understand that some of you may be in a long distance relationship due to the pandemic, so if you can’t be physically together have a date via Zoom. You can adapt the ideas I have already mentioned and do them online instead. For instance, both of you cook the same meal on camera together and then sit down and eat it virtually.

Watch your favourite movies or series

Wrap yourselves up in a cosy blanket in front of the TV, with tasty snacks and watch a couple of your favourite movies. If you have different tastes in films, make it fair and watch a film each of your choosing. I’d suggest deciding on the film in advance, otherwise you will spend hours mindlessly scrolling through Netflix. I have a few movie / Netflix series suggestions on the blog, from Disney Plus, Horror’s and Christmas movies, there’s likely to be something for everyone.

Play a board game or video game

I love playing a good game with my boyfriend, we are both very competitive so it can get a little heated sometimes! The Game of Life and Jenga are two fun board games. If you have a PlayStation or a Nintendo Switch, I’d recommend the games Moving Out and Overcooked, they are multi-player video games, which are super fun to play, but it may cause some light-hearted arguments!!

Do an online cocktail making class

If making cocktails is your thing, then there a plenty of online cocktail masterclasses out there. You could even pick up a cocktail recipe book or have a little search online, pick up the ingredients and try your hand at cocktail making without the cringey online course.

Create an at home spa experience

Everyone loves a good pamper, so treat yourself and your loved one to a little at home spa experience. Run a candle lit bath, filled with bubbles and rose petals and take a long hot soak either alone or together 😉. Give each other a quick back massage for that extra added relaxation.

I hope you have found some inspiration for at home Valentine’s Day date ideas in this post. I’d love to hear what you are planning to do this Valentines! If you need some gifting inspiration, I have a gift guide filled with plenty of romantic presents to treat your loved ones.

Until Another Day x

  1. I think we’ll be doing board games, drinking games and making a dinner together. We aren’t big on V Day but this year, I feel like celebrating because we can!
Love the idea of a spa at home!

  2. These are some lovely ideas. Sadly me and my boyfriend will be apart on Valentine’s still so I think we’ll be going for a zoom date this year!
