I’m not really one for setting myself ‘New Years Resolutions’ they are often unachieveable and make me feel disheartened when I’m unable to complete them. This year, I’ve decided to give myself 3 easy achievable goals for 2021. My goals are not to triple my blog views or land X amount of brand collaborations, because I know if I didn’t reach these targets, I would be disappointed in myself. I wasn’t actually going to share my goals online, but instead, this will (hopefully) make me more accountable!
Write a highlight of every day
This was actually a goal my boyfriend set himself at the start of 2020, which he acheived!! It’s sounds like a very easy task, however on our bad days, simply finding one good thing to write about is pretty hard. The highlight doesn’t even need to be something super positive either, it can be anything from eating your favourite meal to having an argument with a colleague. Having a highlight of every day to reflect back on from time to time, is a great way of finding pleasure from the small things in life. For the time being, I am writing the highlights in the notes section on my phone, but plan to jot them down in a notebook soon.
Do a full skincare routine morning and evening
On busy or lazy days, it can be quite easy to skip steps in your skincare routine. I plan to make a conscious effort with my skin, and ensure I do a full skincare routine morning and evening. This will become difficult when I eventually go back to work in the office, but I plan to get out of bed a few minutes earlier to take the time for self-care.

I love reading so much but I find that I don’t do nearly as much as I should. In 2021, I am setting myself a goal of reading part of my book just once a day. I’m currently reading The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and I am fully obsessed, it’s so spooky and creepy. I have many books lined up to read in 2021, which I cannot wait to get my teeth into. My first read of 2021 was The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley, it was a great crime novel, but I did predict a couple of the twists earlier on in the story.
Setting goals that you will actually enjoy is definitely the key to acheiving them. There’s no point in setting a goal that you dread completing, otherwise you will 100% not stick to it. Have you set yourself any goals for 2021? I’d love to know what you would like to achieve.
Until Another Day x
Love this! A highlight a day would be amazing to look back on after the year 🤩

It is! When my boyfriend started this it was so nice to pick a random date and see what he loved about that day x

I’ve been doing a highlight a day for over a year now and it has helped so much – especially through lockdown and other tough times. I managed to cram in 7 books into December just so I could complete my 15 books challenge, so this year I’d really to spread out that reading challenge. Skincare is something I should really do more of, I’m often complaining to myself that I want better skin – I really gotta drink more water and put moisturizer on every day…lovely post, these goals seem achievable! xx

Thank you Caroline! The highlight a day was so lovely to look back on throughout the lockdown that I decided to do it myself too. It’s so important not to take the small things for granted. Wow, I can’t believe you read 7 books in a month, that’s crazy, well done! I concentrated so much on skincare in 2020 and I’ve seen a massive improvement, it’s definitely somthing worth sticking with!x

Yess to the full skincare regime. I do this every evening but I think it would be good to wake up early and do it every morning before work too!

I love the idea of writing a highlight down every day. It would also be something nice to look back on at the end of the year. Makes me want to try it out too! I love to read too so I increased my Goodreads reading challenge by 2 books from last year. Skincare is also something I need to improve on as there are days I get lazy to apply even moisturiser at night. :))

It’s so lovely to read back on everything you got up to throughout a year, no matter how small and meaningless it might seem at the time. It really pays off to look after our skin, I know at times we get lazy but it’s definitely worth making the effort, you will thank yourself in the long run 🙂 x

I love these ideas. In fact they are all my goals. I am on my 5th book of the year and I am on my 7th year of doing 100happy days. Each day I take a picture of something positive each day and make a note in a diary. It really does make me stop and think about the positives that are in each day x x

I loved these goals. They’re really achievable yet effective. There are some days where I feel like I’ve been so lazy or so angry and I feel so terrible but it’s so important to see the positive and good things that you have done so I’m definitely going to practise this in 2021 x

These are some great goals. I love the idea of writing down a highlight of each day. My best friend did something similar a couple of years ago where they took a photo each day and put them in a folder. They found that they were actively trying to do more each day so that the photo wasn’t the same boring one. At the end, they had some great photos and lovely memories too.

That sounds wonderful, even better than my idea! I think that might just have to be a goal for 2022 instead, thanks so much for reading Kelly x

Yes! I am terrible for keeping up with my skincare routine, and you can almost always guarantee I’ll miss a morning, evening or day here and there, so I really want to become consistent with it. Also, reading more and taking my time to read the books rather than rushing them because I want to hit a certain number read before the year is out!

Great goals! I agree, it is much easier to achieve goals that you enjoy. Setting achievable goals also has the benefit of boosting your confidence, making it easier to achieve more difficult goals down the line. It’s a win-win!

These are all things I’ve really been trying to dedicate more time to this year, particularly the finding a highlight part! I think it’s so important to be grateful for the little things, it really helps me remember that when I’m upset, life actually isn’t all that bad! I hope you’re getting on great with these goals!

I’ve had a tough time over the past few weeks so it’s been pretty difficult to think of a highlight. I have some how managed to keep this up, even if the highlight is binge watching The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina 🤣 x
