2020. What a year. When the clock chimed midnight on New Years Eve I don’t think anyone could have predicted what we were in for. Alas, I’m not going to bore you with the details of the Coronavirus Pandemic, but instead talk to you about some fabulous beauty products I discovered this year.
2020 was the year I focused prodominently on skincare. With working from home since March, and for the foreseeable, I found myself less inclined to wear makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore makeup, that’s the whole point of this blog, however because I haven’t left the house much, I didn’t see the point in wearing it unnecessarily. With this in mind, the majority of my beauty favourites are skincare products. My skin has improved so much this year, it was never “bad” but it definitely looks and feels a lot better than this time last year.
Skincare Favourites
Pixi Glow Tonic

Over the years, I’ve never really felt the need to include a toner in my skincare routine, that was until I discovered the Pixi Glow Tonic. This toner has honestly changed my life, within a few days of using, my skin looked like new. The Glow Tonic contains Glycolic Acid, which is a chemical exfoliator, meaning it helps to strip the top layer of dead skin, leaving you with a gorgeous glowy complexion. I featured the Glow Tonic in a recent empties post of mine here.
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is a must in my skincare routine and this version from The Ordinary is wonderful. I have very oily skin so I like to use this one at night. I’d describe it as a glass of water for your skin because its super hydrating, instantly banishing any dry patches.
Green People Hyaluronic Booster Serum*

Another Hyaluronic Acid serum, I clearly love the stuff don’t I. The Green People Hyaluronic Booster Serum works perfectly on oily skin, I have a full review here. I like to use this serum during my morning skincare routine as it’s a little lighter than The Ordinary verision. Green People are such an incredible brand with products designed for each skin type, there truly is something for everyone.
Dots for Spots

If you have a painful yellow spot that you just cannot get rid of, then Dots for Spots will definitely be your friend. These little patches help to remove the “gunk” from a spot within just a few hours, so are perfect to use whilst sleeping. I recently featured Dots for Spots in a post all about spot treatments that actually work.
Simple Daily Skin Detox Mattifying Moisturiser
I picked this up a few months back and I’m obsessed! Although mattifying, I find this Simple moisturiser nice and hydrating. It’s perfect for those makeup free days as it stops the skin looking and feeling oily. Simple always create such beautiful and natural skincare products, I’m yet to find a product of theirs that doesn’t agree with me!
Bunch Skincare Balance Organic Face Oil*

Bunch Skincare were introduced to me back in September and I am head over heels for their Balance Organic Face Oil. Applying a couple of drops before mosituriser in my evening skincare routine always leaves me with a gorgeous complexion the next day. A little goes a long way with this oil, it’s also vegan and 100% natural. The scent alone leaves me wanting more and more, it has a calming lavender aroma.
Makeup Favourites
Jolie Beauty Second Skin Highlighter*

The Jolie Beauty Second Skin Highlighters are a recent favourite of mine, after only trying this out at the start of December. I won’t go too in depth, as I have a review on this highlighter here. I have been using the shade Saintly non-stop this past month and I love it so much. It adds such a beautiful lit from within glow to the skin and can easily be built to create an envious blinding highlight.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Wow, what a throwback. I was browsing Superdrug a few weeks ago and rediscovered an old favourite of mine, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Since I last used this concealer, Collection have revamped the packaging and added more shades to the range. This concealer retails for less than a fiver at just £4.19 and has such an amazing coverage, if you have never tried this concealer before, then you really need to get your hands on it!
MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick
My all-time favourite nude has got to be Velvet Teddy by MAC. I’ve had this lipstick in my collection for years, however the reason I’m featuring it is because over the last few months I’ve started using it again. Velvet Teddy is an absolute classic, it’s so flattering on my pale skin. Some nudes can make me appear washed out, or look like I have foundation lips, but not this guy!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I have mentioned this foundation far too many times on my blog this year, however it’s my current fave so how could I not speak about it…again. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has hit the nail on the head with this formula, it never looks cakey and is easily buildable, check out my review!
Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil

I picked this up on a trip to Florida earlier this year, which turned out to be a disaster. However, the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil is far from a disaster, it’s amazing! My brows always look so put together and almost perfect whenevere I use this, so much so I’m on my second pencil of the year. It’s definitely a brow product I can see myself wearing well into 2021 and beyond.
Well there you have it folks, my round up of my absolute favourite beauty products of 2020! What where your favourite product discoveries of the year? I hope you all have a wonderful New Year and 2021 is kinder to you than this year!
Until Another Day x

Getting skincare right is always a good thing, makeup is more likely to sit better on the skin if it’s in good condition. Yes, the Estee Lauder Double Wear is a great foundation!x

I like to be nosey and see what other people have been loving and using. I love the Estée Lauder double wear foundation but I am changing my skincare and make up to cruelty free and vegan, so I have found an alternative option. Thank you for sharing your post.
