Whether you suffer with acne, hormonal breakouts or just the odd pimple, finding a fast-acting spot treatment isn’t easy. Today I am going to be sharing with you some great spot fighting treatments which will leave you with clearer, fresher skin in just a few days. Read on to discover how to get rid of spots fast.
Dots for Spots
The number one rule I hear about breakouts is to not pop or pick at spots. It’s understandable to get the urge to remove that gross looking whitehead but you could be doing more harm than good. A new discovery of mine is Dots for Spots Acne Absorbing Patches. Simply pop on one of these, almost, invisible dots and leave overnight. The next mornng that nasty pimple will be all but a distant memory. For best results, it is recommended to apply to spots which are at the surface of the skin, such as a whitehead. Dots for Spots are a cruelty free and vegan friendly brand, and their patches are paraban, sulphate and fragrance free so are perfect for those of us with super sensitive skin. Each time I use a patch, I am blown away by how fast acting and effective they are. Out of all the treatments I will be sharing today, this is by the far the best!
Funderm Was Bad Anti-Pimple Gel Treatment*
Last week I woke up with two gigantic hormonal spots on my chin, that my makeup could not even hide. I reached for the Was Bad Treatment by Funderm and within one day they had massively reduced in size and redness, and by day two they were almost completely gone. This gel is cruelty free, contains no parabens or oils and is totally invisible. Funderm is definitely a brand you need to check out if you’re suffering with spots. Another favourite of mine is their No Drama Red Clay Mask, which leads nicely onto my next effective spot treatment.
Face Masks
I always mention face masks on the blog because 1) they are my favourite part of skincare and 2) they are perfect for clearing those nasty breakouts! Clay masks are a lifesaver when it comes to getting rid of spots, they purify the skin, helping to remove any dirt and excess oils from the skin (key spot making ingredients). I have a few favourites, which I have mentioned in a few posts in the past. Those are: GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment, L’Oreal Blemish Rescue Mask, Body Shop Himalyan Charcoal Mask.
Tee Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil has many benefits, one of which is its anti-inflammatory properties which are perfect for treating those unsightly red spots. There are even reports that the oil can help reduce the appearance of acne scaring! Using a cotton swab, take a small amount of Tea Tree Oil and begin to gently apply to the effected area. My personal favourite is from the Body Shop, it’s 100% vegan too! The Body Shop have an entire Tea Tree range including face maks, toners, cleansers and scrubs! Including a Tea Tree based product into your skincare routine is a must if you are prone to breakouts.
Sudocrem
Sudocrem is a cream which I have used for YEARS on my blemishes! Yes it is a nappy rash cream, but also has benefits for acne sufferes too (because of its antiseptic properties). It is an affordable cream that lasts for years, it has a medicinal scent but I love it! Apply a thick layer of cream to your spots, but don’t rub it in. Leave the cream to sit on the pimple (this is great to do overnight), and the next day the redness will have dramatically reduced.
If you are anything like me, and have suffered with bad skin throughout your youthful years, then you may have heard of Salicylic Acid. Whilst supposedly good for fighting spots, it doesn’t work for everyone. For a while I found myself obsessed with finding products containing this acid to help my unruly skin, however the majority of products I use now don’t actually contain Salicylic Acid, but still keep my skin free of blemishes.
I hope this post has proven useful for some people out there. I know too well how unhappy blemished skin can make you. If you have tried every skincare product out there, it might be time to speak with your GP. They can often prescribe medical grade creams or oral medication for people with extremely bad cystic acne. For us females out there, certain contraceptive pills are proven to help clear up the skin. I am by no means an expert, so speak with your GP if this is something you are considering.
Until Another Day x
I swear by Sudocrem for all kinds of things too, it’s a brilliant cream, not just for babies. I’ve never come across Dots for Spots but I will definitely look into those for my daughter as she is just hitting puberty and they sound ideal, thank you! x
