Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has been on the beauty community’s radar for years now, but I have only recently tried it out for myself. After reading some reviews, I decided to give it a go on my oily/combination skin to see if it was actually worth the hype it was getting.

To begin this review, I spotted a major flaw as soon as I opened the bottle…there is no pump! For a £30+ foundation, you’d assume there would be a pump, but not with this one, you’re expected to fork out an additonal £5.50 for the pleasure, this is just daylight robbery! With that being said, I just don’t think it is worth the extra expense, so I will make do without, although it makes it a little difficult to control the amount of product you need.

The foundation itself has a liquidy consistancy, but is neither thin nor thick, it’s the perfect texture. Most brands are lacking in their shade range department, but Estee Lauder has everyone covered. With over 60 shades, I’d expect that the majority of skin tones would be able to find their match. I have quite a fair complexion, so my perfect shade is 1N2.

After experimenting with the application of the foundation, I personally find using a damp sponge works the best. It disperses the product evenly and prevents the foundation from appearing cakey on drier parts of the skin. The Double Wear Foundation is easily buildable, from a light layer to full coverage and it hides a multitude of sins, including discolouration and blemishes. It contains SPF 10, so I would recommend adding a seperate SPF before applying this foundation.

I have oily/combination skin, so finding a foundation which not only prevents my skins natural oils from peaking through, but also doesn’t cling to dry patches of skin can be rather difficult. However, this foundation works wonders on my skin. Paired with a loose powder, I’ve recently been using the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, my skin looks flawless for hours at a time without needing to do regular powder top ups. It has a matte finish but doesn’t look cakey if applied with a damp sponge, my recommendation is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

I am completely honest in all of my reviews and if I had any concerns with a product I would voice them, I don’t want you to go wasting your hard earned cash on something useless. However, this foundation is pretty much perfect, the only negative being that it doesn’t come with a pump. The product itself is perfect for my oily skin, it is full coverage and lasts all day. It claims to have 24hr wear, but this is something I won’t be testing out for obvious reasons!

What is your favourite foundation? Have you tried the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and does it work well for you? Let me know!

Until Another Day x

  1. I can’t believe for the price it doesn’t come with a pump! My favourite foundation is bare minerals powered but that’s because its the first foundation I’ve found that works with my skin and doesn’t go patchy. Great post!

  2. I’ve seen this foundation everywhere! It’s so good to hear that it lives up to the hype. You would expect a pump for the cost though. I really, really want to try this foundation one day!

    1. I’d recommend calling into a makeup counter and asking them to shade match you. Most makeup counters offer a sample pot, if you ask, so you can try it out before purchasing! x

  4. Wow, there’s no pump?? No matter how good the product is, that’s a huge drawback. That’s unfortunate cause it really sounds like a good foundation! I also have oily skin and it’s difficult finding a foundation that’s lightweight and doesn’t clog my pores even more

  5. I’ve used this foundation before and completely agree with your review. Honestly though no pump? Come on, that’s it’s only fault! I don’t use it anymore however as Estée Lauder aren’t cruelty free.. shame as I do like their products. Great review, love your honesty

    1. It’s such a shame that there isn’t a pump! I didn’t realise they were not cruelty free, I spoke to another blogger yesterday and they said it’s just in China that they aren’t! I hope that’s true x

  6. This is a great review! I tried this foundation a few years ago but at the time I had acne-prone, dry skin so it just wasn’t great for me… I reckon it might work a bit better for me now though so maybe it’s worth me picking it up again x

  7. I have oily skin and rarely bother with foundation (Bare Minerals powder if I have to) because it slide off by mid-morning. I keep hearing such good things about Double Wear. The price does put me off, if I’m honest, especially if you have to fork out for a pump on top, but maybe it’s time to bite the bullet! Great review, thank you for your honesty 🙂 Lisa

    1. It lasts such a long time on my skin and is great if you’re looking for a little extra coverage. I’d recommend picking up a sample pot from a beauty counter before forking out on the foundation, at least you can try before you buy!

  8. I’m honestly surprised that there’s no pump included. I feel like that should be a given, no? Outside of that oversight, it sounds like it’s a great product. I have been on the search for a foundation that I like, so I might have to give this one a try.

    1. I know right, it’s so frustrating that there isn’t a pump. Especially because it’s expensive anyway! It’s a great foundation I love how flawless my skin looks, you should definitely check it out x
