5 Binge Worthy Netflix Shows to Keep you Entertained in Lockdown

Now that the weather here in the UK seems to have cooled down (well, at least where I live it has), lets not feel guilty about staying indoors and binge watching some good old Netflix. Over the past few months, I’ve had plenty of time to watch a variety of TV shows, after recovering from surgery and the more recent lockdown. Today I’m sharing some Netflix shows which you should add to your list.

How to Get Away with Murder

If you enjoy murder mystery dramas, then this one is for you. A law Professor hires 5 of her students to work alongside her defending criminals in the American justice system, however they all become entwined in their very own murder. Starring Viola Davis as the main protagonist Annalise Keating, this series had me hooked from the get go.

Stranger Things

It wouldn’t be a blog post about Netflix if I didn’t include one of their most iconic shows. Set in the 1980’s in a town called Hawkins, this sci-fi drama is full of crazy twists and turns. The nearby Hawkin’s Laboratory secretly undertakes experiments on the supernatural, creating a portal to another dimension ‘The Upside Down’. I won’t go into too much detail about the show, I wouldn’t want to give away any spoilers.

Power

Power is an American crime drama set in NYC. Following the life of James St. Patrick the owner of the glamourous nightclub Truth, however all is not what it seems. James AKA Ghost is leading a double life as an infamous drug dealer. Ghost wishes to leave his criminality behind him and lead a normal life managing Truth, which isn’t as easy as he first thought. Power also follows Ghost’s criminal partner Tommy Eagen, Angela Valdes his love interest/criminal prosecutor and his rival Kanan, played by 50 Cent. With 6 seasons under its belt, Power is sure to have you wanting more and more.

Breaking Bad

If you haven’t heard of Breaking Bad you must have lived under a rock for the past 12 years! Walter White, portrayed by Bryan Cranston, is diagnosed with cancer. To fund his medical treatment, Walt decides to get into the meth making business. As a High School chemistry teacher, Walt has all the required experience to make it big in the drug world. He partners with a former pupil Jesse Pinkman to secure his families future before his cancer takes control. I first started watching Breaking Bad a few years ago, I got to the 2nd series and gave up. But last Summer I decided to start again and absolutley loved every minute of it.

After Life

Tony (Ricky Gervais) tragically loses his wife to cancer, and contemplates taking his own life. Tony decides to stay alive and invoke havock on his neighbourhood by saying whatever he likes without caring about the consequences. His plan becomes foiled when his friends encourage him to become a better person. Although it has a sad storyline, After Life is utterly hilarious and will have you laughing out loud. Each episode is only around 25 minutes long, so you can easily binge a whole series in just one sitting. Ricky Gervais has recently confirmed a 3rd series is in the works for 2021!

And there you have it, 5 binge worthy Netflix shows to keep you entertained during lockdown. Having watched a lot of Netflix myself, I’m now struggling to find a tv show I can skink my teeth into. I’d love to hear what you’ve been watching during lockdown.

  1. I’ve seen Stranger Things and How to Get Away with Murder. Love them both! I’ve tried watching Breaking Bad multiple times before, I’m not sure if I just wasn’t in the right mindset for it or what. I will try again though. I’ve never seen Power or After Life though so I will look into those! Thank you for your list.

  6. Thanks for your suggestions. The only one I’ve watched from this list is Stranger things and it’s one of my favourite Netflix shows. I’ve been meaning to watch How To Get Away With Murder for a while too. I’d highly recommend Money Heist and Elite. They are both Spanish dramas and they are amazing!
