Step by Step Morning Skincare Routine

I couldn’t even tell you how long lockdown here in the UK has been going on for, time doesn’t seem to exist much anymore. With us all spending a lot more time at home, I personally think it’s time to start making a conscious effort with our skin.

A few months back I posted my updated skincare routine, however in this new post I wanted to focus primarily on what I’ve been doing during isolation, to keep my skin as healthy as possible. Now that I have more time on my hands, i.e. not leaving the house by 07:30 to beat the rush hour traffic. I’m able to use those extra minutes to really concentrate on what my skin needs.

Step 1 – Cleansing

Face Wash for Oily Skin

Every morning, when I get in the shower, I love to use a cleansing face wash to really clear out my pores. My usual face wash seems to have been discontinued in the UK, so recently I’ve been using Tesco’s Kind and Pure Cleansing Face Wash. I like to lather the product in my hands and then gently massage into my skin, concentrating on the centre of my face. Taking the time, at least a minute, to work the product in has really been helping my skin.

Step 2 – Face Masks

Avon Blackhead Clearning Face Mask for Oily Skin

Face masks are one of my favourite skincare products, I always feel relaxed and pampered whenever I use them. During isolation, I’m able to use them first thing in the morning. I tend to switch them up throughout the week, but lately I’ve been reaching for the Avon Blackhead Clearing Deep Clarifying Mask. Again, I focus the product in my t-zone, especially on my nose where my pores get the most clogged. I like to use this most days and I’ve really noticed my pores appearing clearer.

Step 3 – Toner

Simple Soothing Facial Toner for Oily Skin

I don’t use toner all that often, but because I’m on a mission to use up some of my products I’ve been including it in my routine. Using a cotton pad, I add a small amount of Simple’s Soothing Facial Toner and swipe this across my entire face. I like how refreshed and hydrated my skin feels afterwards.

Step 4 – Moisturiser

Simple Hydrating Moisturiser for Oily Skin

The moisturiser I usually use has also been discontinued here in the UK, so I’ve had to switch things up a little. If you don’t already know, I suffer with oily combination skin so I usually reach for an oil free mattifying cream. However, lately I’ve actually loved used the Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser which has been working wonders for my skin. It keeps my skin looking healthy and glowy without adding excess oil to my skin. This cream doesn’t have the nicest scent though…

Step 5 – Eye Cream

Cerave Eye Repair Cream and The Ordinary Caffeine Solution

Unfortunately I suffer with bad undereye dark circles, and lately they have been getting  a lot worse. I’m trying my best to combat them but I’m really struggling (product recommendations welcome!). That being said, I’ve been applying The Ordinary’s Caffeine Solution to my undereyes, followed by CeraVe’s Eye Repair Cream. I do notice a slight difference but nothing too signficant.

Step 6 – Lip Balm

Vaseline Aloe Lip Balm

My lips can get dry and chapped pretty easily, so I always have a lip balm on hand. My current favourite is the Vaseline Aloe Vera lip balm. It has such a calming scent and really keeps my lips hydrated.

So there you have it, my go to morning skincare routine during lockdown. I don’t particularly use any high end skincare products, because they’re always way out of my budget. I would really appreciate it if anyone could recommend a decent eye cream that actually has proven results for reducing the appearance of dark circles.

Until Another Day x

  1. I’ve tried a couple of their products and I’m really liking them, I’m still yet to get my hands on their hyaluronic acid! I’ve found that being at home more was the perfect time to dedicating time to a skincare routine x

  2. This is such a great skincare routine! I need to get in the habit of doing a morning skincare routine as well. I am bad to just put on some moisturizer and call it a day. I need to get better at that. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love reading about people’s routines. I really like the Avon blackhead mask too. I’d recommend the Clinique eye brightening gel, although it’s a bit pricey, it works really well and you only need a tiny amount so it lasts ages.

  4. I love how simple your routine is!!!! Thank you for this! Currently I am just doing the cleansing and moisturizing, but I’ll probably add toner and lip care as well haha. Our lips is skin too. I hope that some of your products are in my country as well but right now I’m also sticking with vaseline and the ordinary.
