Are you looking to purchase high end makeup, but need some product reassurance and ideas before taking the plunge? Here are just a few of my favourite beauty products that come with a price tag. P.S. I apologies in advance that it includes 3 eyeshadow palettes (sorry).
Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake – £18.00
Illamasqua isn’t a brand that I hear of a lot, but for this item alone they should receive more recognition. Before purchasing this I had never heard of this brand. This was recommended to me by a makeup artist in Selfridges, she matched the colour to me perfectly, and I’m in the shade ‘Thunder’. It is an extremely pigmented, powdered product which applies smoothly. I advise using a very light hand when applying this, otherwise it could look unnatural and too drawn on. The powder lasts such a long time, as it’s only needed in moderation. I think this is a must have item for anyone’s makeup collection.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette – £41.00
First of all the packaging for this is amazing. The palette is coated in a dusty pink suede material which sets the mood for the colours inside. There are 14 shades in total including mattes and shimmers and an added bonus of a double ended brush. The shades have warm undertones with some reddish pink hues. The shadows are bold, creamy and super pigmented, hundreds of looks can be made using these colours. It’s definitely worth purchasing.
Mac Fix + – £18.00
When I first heard about setting sprays, I kinda thought they were just a fad! I’d used drugstore versions of setting sprays and they had never worked, one even left a sort of white residue on my skin!!! I was slightly reluctant to buy Fix + but I was intrigued due to the hype surrounding it. After using this a few times I began to fall in love with it. I think it’s great because not only can it be used as a setting spray, but can also be used as a tool for making eyeshadows/highlighters more pigmented. Once I have sprayed this on my face, whilst still damp, I like to add a little more highlighter to make it ‘pop’ even more. It seems to make my makeup last a little longer and controls my oils for an elongated period.
Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette – £39.00
Out of everything mentioned in this post I have owned this one for the shortest time. As soon as Too Faced announced they were coming out with this I knew someday I had to have it! I was constantly checking for when it would be available in the UK. It took me a while to get my hands on it, but I adored it from day one! The shades are perfect for the warmer months with plenty of peachy pinks to get you summer ready. Each shadow is infused with a deliciously sweet peach scent and all have super cute names.
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop – £32.00
In collaboration with Becca, beauty YouTuber Jaclyn Hill has created a poppin’ highlight that should be in anyone’s makeup bag. This apricot-gold highlighter is perfect for any skin tone, and is sure to add a shimmering glow to your face. Use on the tops of your cheeks, bridge of the nose and cupids bow (or anywhere else you wanna shine). Jaclyn has certainly topped the highlighter charts with this showstopper.
Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette – £37.00
This was a gift I received from my parents when they visited Las Vegas (before it was purchasable in the UK). This palette consists of 12 matte shadows. The colours emanate the different hues of shadows and light, hence the name. The powders blend smoothly onto the lids and can be used to create a variety of alternative looks using the contrasting undertones. Sometimes I even contour with one of the ashier shades ‘Lazarus’.
Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick – £16.50
This lipstick has to be one of my favourite nudes I have ever discovered. It is a matte deep tone beige that can be paired with EVERY look. Despite it being matte, it is super creamy and doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry or cracked. Occasionally, I like to combine this with Mac Spice Lip Pencil, to create a darker lip duo.
Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer – £25.00
Last, but certainly not least, a beautifully fragrant, chocolaty bronzer that is ideal for those of us with pale skin. I struggled for a long time trying to find a bronzer that didn’t look orange or patchy on my white skin. YouTuber KathleenLights drew my attention to this after mentioning it on her channel dozens of times. One of its many benefits includes that it is matte which allows for the powder to be used to contour yet still bronze, it applies like silk and can be blended out effortlessly.
